Características clínicas de la gastroenteritis por rotavirus y su asociación con distintos electroferotipos

open access: yesKasmera, 2002
: From June 1993 to June 1995 stool samples were obtained from 377 children with acute diarrhea admitted to the Antonio Patricio de Alcalá Hospital in Cumaná, Venezuela. Electrophoretic patterns of rotaviruses were detected in 27.85 per cent (105/377) of

Review of the Latest Therapeutic Approaches in the Management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

open access: yesQuality in Sport
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common and chronic bowel disease which, although it does not lead to severe and permanent complications, significantly deteriorates patients' quality of life. It constitutes a considerable psychological burden for them

Ionic Control of Microstructure and Lubrication in Charged, Physically Cross‐Linked Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, charged, physically cross‐linked poly(methacrylamide‐co‐methacrylic acid) hydrogels stabilized by a short‐range attractive, long‐range repulsive potential is investigated. This work uncovers how salt addition alters not only swelling, but also the microstructure and dynamics, near‐surface stiffness and charge, and ultimately, its lubricity. Salts

Cat‐Vibrissa‐Inspired Biomass Fiber Aerogels for Flexible and Highly Sensitive Sensors in Monitoring Human Sport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by cat vibrissae, biomimetic biomass PHFs/SA aerogels (BFAs) are developed via precursor‐assisted in situ polymerization and freeze‐synergistic assembly. These ultralight, porous pressure sensors exhibit high sensitivity and excellent durability, enabling pulse detection, handwriting recognition, Morse code transmission, and notably real‐time ...

Rotaviral Diarrhea

open access: yesVeterinary Clinics of North America: Equine Practice, 1993
Rotavirus poses a challenge each foaling season to farm managers and veterinarians in intensive horse breeding areas throughout the world. By understanding the epidemiology of the disease as well as characteristics of the virus, veterinarians can make sound recommendations on prevention and control of outbreaks.

Biomimetic Iridescent Skin: Robust Prototissues Spontaneously Assembled from Photonic Protocells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform nanoparticles are induced to form arrays (photonic crystals) in the cores of biopolymer capsules, endowing these ‘protocells’ with structural color. These protocells are then assembled into large self‐standing objects, i.e., prototissues, with robust mechanical properties as well as iridescent optical properties.
