Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli Related to Uropathogenic Clonal Group A
Enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC) are heterogeneous, diarrheagenic E. coli. Of EAEC strains from Nigeria, 10 independent antimicrobial-resistant isolates belonged to the multilocus sequence type 69 clonal complex, to which uropathogenic E.

This is an infographic driver of food contaminants and health effects. ABSTRACT Food safety remains a critical challenge in Nigeria due to rapid urbanization and weak regulatory enforcement. This systematic review synthesizes empirical evidence from 2015 to 2025 to characterize food contaminant profiles and associated human health risks in Nigeria ...

Background: Acute diarrhea, a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, still remains a major global health problem, especially among children in the developing countries. Diarrheagenic E. coli represent one of the most common etiological causes of diarrhea in children worldwide.

Attaching and effacing Escherichia coli downregulate DNA mismatch repair protein in vitro and are associated with colorectal adenocarcinomas in humans [PDF]
Background: Mucosa-associated Escherichia coli are frequently found in the colonic mucosa of patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma, but rarely in healthy controls. Chronic mucosal E. coli infection has therefore been linked to colonic tumourigenesis. E.

Iran's Escherichia coli AMR Landscape (2010–2025): A One Health Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis
This One Health systematic review and meta‐analysis of 368 studies (2010–2025) reveals that 47.2% of E. coli isolates in Iran are ESBL‐producers, with alarming resistance to penicillins, cephalosporins, and fluoroquinolones. Critically, resistance to last‐resort antibiotics—colistin and ertapenem—is significantly increasing over time.

Phenotypic and Genotypic Antibiotic Resistant diarrheagenic Escherichia coli pathotypes isolated from Children with Diarrhea in Nairobi City, Kenya [PDF]
BACKGROUND፡ The marked genome plasticity of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli promotes emergence of pathotypes displaying unique phenotypic and genotypic resistance. This study examined phenotypic and genotypic antibiotic resistant diarrheagenic Escherichia

This study characterized 56 Escherichia coli isolates obtained from canine pyometra, which predominantly belonged to phylogroup B2 and harboured multiple virulence genes, with high multidrug resistance rates indicating potential clinical and zoonotic risks. ABSTRACT The presence of multidrug‐resistant extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC)

Molecular characterization of extraintestinal and diarrheagenic Escherichia coli blood isolates
Pathogenic E. coli strains can be classified into two major groups, based on the presence of specific virulence factors: extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) and diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC).
