Uncovering the Interaction of 2‐(4‐Aminophenyl) benzothiazole with Human Serum Albumin: A Combined Spectroscopic and Docking Study

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 16, April 25, 2025.
2‐(4‐aminophenyl) benzothiazole (APB) binds preferentially at site 1 within a hydrophobic pocket in subdomain IIA of HSA. The binding occurs spontaneously with the primary role of the hydrophobic force over other forces. Binding does not affect the structural elements of HSA.

Para‐aminopropiophenone toxicity in domestic dogs: a description of non‐target toxicosis in Victoria, Australia: 13 dogs (2016–2023)

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 4, Page 215-223, April 2025.
Background PAPP is widely used in Australia as a potent vertebrate bait, with potential for off‐target ingestion and poisoning in domestic dogs. Whilst toxicosis and resulting methaemoglobinaemia is anecdotally known to occur, this is the first description in the literature.

The Locus Coeruleus: Anatomy, Physiology, and Stress‐Related Neuropsychiatric Disorders

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 61, Issue 7, April 2025.
Repeated and chronic exposure to stressors may activate the locus coeruleus–norepinephrine (LC‐NE) system. Depression and post‐traumatic stress disorders precipitated by a stressful event are associated with the hypersecretion of the corticotropin‐releasing factor (CRF) leading to elevated CRF levels in the brain (green arrows pointed up).

When patients with Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease are misdiagnosed as having nonconvulsive status epilepticus

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 66, Issue 4, Page 1006-1013, April 2025.
Abstract Contemporary studies report nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) in Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD), based on benzodiazepine (BZP)‐responsive epileptiform discharges on the electroencephalogram (EEG), with the following false syllogism: (1) intravenous (IV) administration of BZPs usually suppress ictal activity in NCSE; (2) in CJD, periodic
