Some light on diazotrophs

Science, 2021
Nitrogen Fixation About half of the planet's nitrogen fixation occurs out at sea by prokaryote diazotrophs, yet we still have a poor understanding of which ones do what. Karlusich et al. applied a combination of image capture and nitrogenase gene ( nifH ) sequencing on globally gathered data to map diazotrophs sampled at different depths.

Life in grasses: diazotrophic endophytes

Trends in Microbiology, 1998
N2-fixing bacteria such as Azoarcus spp., Herbaspirillum spp, and Acetobacter diazotrophicus can infect the interior of gramineous plants without causing symptoms of plant disease but do not survive in soil. Like phytopathogens, they can penetrate into central tissues and spread systemically.

Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus Gene Fitness during Diazotrophic Growth

Applied and Environmental Microbiology, 2022
Our results demonstrate a succinct set of genes involved in diazotrophic growth for G. diazotrophicus , with a lower degree of redundancy than what is found in other model diazotrophs. The results will serve as a valuable resource for those interested in biological nitrogen fixation and will establish a baseline ...
