A Toxic Equivalency Factor Scale for Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans

Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 1994
The ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) induction of 20 polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) was examined in the H4IIE rat hepatoma cell bioassay. The selection of the compounds tested was based on a multivariate chemical characterization laying the groundwork for covering the whole chemical series of PCDFs.

[Polychlorinated dibenzofurans and cancer].

Giornale italiano di medicina del lavoro ed ergonomia, 2011
The aim of the present report is to review the main scientific literature about polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and to focus the critical aspects of their identification and assessment of exposure. The 2,3,4,7,8- Pentachlorodibenzofuran (PeCDF) has been classified as carcinogenic to humans and included in Group 1 by IARC, as there is sufficient ...

Accumulation of polychlorinated dibenzofurans in the livers of monkeys and rats

Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1980
Abstract A mixture of polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) was analysed by gas chromatography, mass fragmentography and high-pressure liquid chromatography. The mixture consisted of 14% 1,2,7,8-tetra-chlorodibenzofuran (1,2,7,8-tetra-CDF), 35% 2,3,7,8-tetra-, 1% 1,2,4,7,8-penta-, 49% 1,2,3,7,8-penta-, 1% 2,3,4,7,8-penta- and 1% hexa-CDF. The mixture

Comparative toxicity of polychlorinated biphenyls and dibenzofurans in rats

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1978
Comparative Toxicity of Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Dibenzofurans in Rats. Oishi, S., Morita, M., and Fukuda, H. (1978). Toxicol. Appl. Pharmacol. 43, 13–22 (1978). The toxic effects of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) mixtures and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) were compared on male SD-derived rats fed diets containing 100 ppm of PCB and 1 or

Correlation of polychlorinated naphthalenes with polychlorinated dibenzofurans formed from waste incineration

Chemosphere, 2001
Isomer composition of polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) was measured for municipal waste incinerator fly ash samples and for emission samples produced from soot and copper-deposit experiments conducted at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA). Two types of PCN isomer patterns were identified.

Determination of polychlorinated dibenzofurans in tissues of patients with ‘Yusho’

Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1977
Abstract Tissues of patients with ‘Yusho’ and of persons not suffering from this disease were analysed for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) by column chromatography, gas chromatography, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans in PVC pyrolysis

Polymer Degradation and Stability, 1998
The tars produced by PVC pyrolysis under different conditions of temperature and oxygen concentration were analysed for PCDDs and PCDFs content. The tar collected after low temperature pyrolysis (500 °C) and in reduced oxygen atmosphere (11.6% O2) had the highest PCDDs/PCDFs content.

Identification of polychlorinated dibenzofurans in environmental samples

Nature, 1981
The polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) are tricyclic aromatic compounds, which in chemical and toxicological respects are very similar to polychlorinated dioxins (PCDDs). The 2,3,7,8-tetra-, 1,2,3,7,8- and 2,3,4,7,8-penta-CDFs are extremely hazardous compounds, they can be compared with the extremely toxic 2,3,7,8-tetra-CDD (ref. 1). PCDFs have been
