Assessing the Health Impacts of Contaminants on Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) Along the Southern Coast of Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chemical pollutants pose a significant threat to marine ecosystems. Among these contaminants are trace elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Green turtles can be employed to evaluate the oceans' health due to their coastal habitats and exposure to multiple threats.

Ultrasonic Auxiliary Ozone Oxidation-Extraction Desulfurization: A Highly Efficient and Stable Process for Ultra-Deep Desulfurization

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
For ultra-deep desulfurization of diesel fuel, this study applied the ultrasound-assisted catalytic ozonation process to the dibenzothiophene (DBT) removal process with four Keggin-type heteropolyacids (HPA) as catalysts and acetonitrile as extractant ...

ZnO‐Functionalized Silicon Carbide Ceramic Membranes for Removing Impurities From Biodiesel

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 8, Issue 3, May 2026.
Silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic membranes functionalized with zinc oxide (ZnO) were assessed for biodiesel purification through crossflow filtration. The ZnO–SiC membranes effectively retained metallic impurities, especially calcium, sodium, and phosphorus, achieving levels that meet biodiesel quality standards.

A Probable Origin of Dibenzothiophenes in Coals and Oils

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
To probe the possibility of thiophenolate as an origin of dibenzothiophenes (DBTs) and establish the detailed chemical transformations from thiophenolate to DBTs, the thermal degradation of thiophenolate has been carried out at various temperatures.

Desulfurization of Benzothiophene Derivatives by Solvent Extraction Coupled With Oxidation Using Oxomolybdenum(VI) Bis(pyrazolyl)methane Catalysts

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 13, 1 May 2026.
A polymeric hybrid material formulated as [MoO3(bis(pyrazolyl)methane)] has been prepared and used as a catalyst precursor for the complete oxidative desulfurization of a model diesel containing recalcitrant benzothiophene derivatives. The precursor is converted in situ to an oxodiperoxo active species which is retained in the recyclable extractant ...

The Arsenal of Aromatic Degrading Bacteria: How They Sense, Chase, Adapt and Destroy Environmental Pollutants

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 5, May 2026.
In the environment, bacteria sense aromatic pollutants, migrate toward them, adapt to toxicity, and deploy specialized uptake and catabolic systems. Genomic plasticity, metabolic versatility and division of labor within populations together aid in the degradation of persistent aromatics, highlights that biodegradation is driven by various eco ...
