Engineering microorganisms for the biosynthesis of dicarboxylic acids
Biotechnology Advances, 2021Dicarboxylic acids (DCAs) are important commodity chemicals which have been widely applied in polymer, food and pharmaceutical industries. Biosynthesis of DCAs from renewable carbon sources represents a promising alternative to chemical synthesis. Over the years, the recombinant strains have been constructed to produce an increasing number of DCAs.

The reaction of Escherichia coli aspartate aminotransferase (AspAT) with glutamate and other C5-dicarboxylates was analyzed in order to compare its mechanism of action toward C5 substrates with that toward C4 substrates, which had been extensively characterized.

Rat liver metabolism of dicarboxylic acids
American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1989Recently, we demonstrated in rat liver that dicarboxylic acids containing more than five carbons can be activated by a microsomal dicarboxylyl-CoA synthetase (J. Vamecq, E. de Hoffmann, and F. Van Hoof. Biochem. J. 230: 683-693, 1985). The products of this reaction, dicarboxylyl-CoA esters, were found to be substrates for an H2O2-generating ...

Enantioselective Synthesis of Diamino Dicarboxylic Acids
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1999The preparation of alkyl diamino dicarboxylic acids with high optical purity (100% ee, >98.5% de) and high yields based on asymmetric catalytic hydrogenation is described. The required prochiral precursors are prepared from dialdehydes and Z-, Boc-, and acetyl-protected phosphonoglycines.

Metabolism of dicarboxylic acids in rat hepatocytes
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1990[carboxyl-14C]Dodecanedioic acid (DC12) is metabolized in hepatocytes at a rate about two thirds that of [1-14C]palmitate. Shorter dicarboxylates (sebacic (DC10), suberic (DC8), and adipic (DC6) acid) are formed, mainly DC6, less DC8 and only a little DC10.

Pharmaceutical salts of emoxypine with dicarboxylic acids
Acta Crystallographica Section C Structural Chemistry, 2018New salt forms of the antioxidant drug emoxypine (EMX, 2-ethyl-6-methylpyridin-3-ol) with pharmaceutically acceptable maleic (Mlt), malonic (Mln) and adipic (Adp) acids were obtained {emoxypinium maleate, C8H12NO+·C4H3O4−, [EMX+Mlt], emoxypinium malonate, C8H12NO+·C3H3O4−, [EMX+Mln], and emoxypinium adipate, C8H12NO+·C6H9O4−, [EMX+Adp]} and their ...

Characterization of Dicarboxylic Acids for Cellulose Hydrolysis
Biotechnology Progress, 2001AbstractIn this paper, we show that dilute maleic acid, a dicarboxylic acid, hydrolyzes cellobiose, the repeat unit of cellulose, and the microcrystalline cellulose Avicel as effectively as dilute sulfuric acid but with minimal glucose degradation. Maleic acid, superior to other carboxylic acids reported in this paper, gives higher yields of glucose ...

Dicarboxylic acids as markers of fatty acid peroxidation in diabetes
Atherosclerosis, 2000Increased urinary excretion of dicarboxylic acids (DAs) has been well known in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). It was known that small amounts of such DAs were also detected in urine from healthy humans. Upon chemical, radiation-induced or enzymatic oxidation, cis-polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have previously been shown to generate ...

Urinary dicarboxylic acids in Reye syndrome
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1985Urine from 12 patients with Reye syndrome was examined by gas-liquid chromatography for identification of organic acids. Large amounts of lactic acid, dicarboxylic acids (adipic, suberic, and sebacic), and 3-OH butyric acid were noted. The mean (+/- SD) total dicarboxylic acid concentration was 0.98 +/- 0.24 mg/mg creatinine, compared with 0.006 +/- 0 ...

Peroxisomal and mitochondrial beta-oxidation of dicarboxylic acids (DCAs) were investigated and compared. When isolated hepatocytes were incubated with DCAs of various chain lengths, H2O2 was derived from peroxisomal beta-oxidation, the rates of its generation being comparable to those seen with monocarboxylic acids (MCAs), whereas the rates of ketone ...
