Mixed parasitic infestation in Dicentrarchus labrax, Dicentrarchus punctatus and Sparus aurata in Suez Canal

open access: yes, 2021
A total of 286 marine fishes of “Dicentrarchus labrax, Dicentrarchus punctatus and Sparus aurata” were collected from Suez Canal in Ismailia Province, Egypt. Abundant mixed parasitic infestation implicating Cymothoid isopods, Lernanthropus, Caligus, Praniza larvae of Gnathiids, Monogeneans and Digeneans was frequently seen.

Retrograde Positive Contrast Urethrocystography of the Fish Urogenital System

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
The radiological differences between the urinary tract of  Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus aurata, Tinca tinca, and Cyprinus carpio are shown. In fresh water teleosts the urinary bladder is sigmoid and a short urethra leads to the urinary pore.

The role of Aeromonas genotyping in virulence for Dicentrarchus labrax

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, 2023
AbstractAeromonas septicemia still represents a serious challenge facing the global aquaculture sector. In the present study, Aeromonas caviae and A. veronii were isolated from four diseased European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) farms experiencing a high mortality rate. Diseased fish showed haemorrhages on the external body surface with exophthalmia,

Effects of polymethylmethacrylate nanoplastics on Dicentrarchus labrax

open access: yesGenomics, 2018
The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of ~45 nm nanoplastics (NPs) on the marine fish Dicentrarchus labrax after a short-term exposure. Animals were exposed to a concentration range of NPs for 96 h and liver, plasma and skin mucus were sampled.

Expression and localization of Aquaporin 1a in the sea-bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) during ontogeny

open access: yes, 2011
The successful establishment of a species in a given habitat depends on the ability of each of its developing stages to adapt to the environment. In order to understand this process we have studied the adaptation of a euryhaline fish, the sea-bass ...
