Effects of polymethylmethacrylate nanoplastics on Dicentrarchus labrax

open access: yesGenomics, 2018
The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of ~45 nm nanoplastics (NPs) on the marine fish Dicentrarchus labrax after a short-term exposure. Animals were exposed to a concentration range of NPs for 96 h and liver, plasma and skin mucus were sampled.

Retrograde Positive Contrast Urethrocystography of the Fish Urogenital System

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
The radiological differences between the urinary tract of  Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus aurata, Tinca tinca, and Cyprinus carpio are shown. In fresh water teleosts the urinary bladder is sigmoid and a short urethra leads to the urinary pore.

Haematology reference values for Dicentrarchus labrax and Sparus aurata: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

open access: yes, 2022
Haematological parameters are frequently used as physiological indicators in aquaculture studies. These parameters also have extended applications in clinical evaluation, diagnosis and prognosis in fish health status.

Length–girth relations of fishes from a Mediterranean lagoon system [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2017
We estimated the relations between total length (TL) and opercular (Gope) and maximum (Gmax) girths, for the eight most representative lagoon fish species in Mesolonghi–Etolikon lagoons within 2015–2017 (June through December).

The use of alternative energies in hatcheries: an application of Life Cycle Analysis

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Fish production requires great efforts and energies and causes different impacts/effects on the ecosystems. The development of aquaculture is possible, in the medium and long term, only if this is done responsibly, and if the production is reached from ...

Determination of Heavy Metals and Pesticides in Different Types of Fish Samples Collected from Four Different Locations of Aegean and Marmara Sea

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2020
Heavy metals and pollutants cause serious damage to the ecological environment and accumulate in marine species in the seas. These pollutants and heavy metals accumulating in living species are a serious source of danger for human health.

Oxidative stress in tissues of gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) and European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) juveniles exposed to ultraviolet-B radiation

open access: yesJournal of Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2021
Ultraviolet-B (UVB) radiation generates reactive oxygen species (ROS), which damage DNA, proteins, and lipids in aquatic organisms, including fish. This study evaluated UVB-induced oxidative stress in several tissues of two marine teleosts, gilthead ...
