Topological preparation of non-stabilizer states and Clifford evolution in SU(2)1 Chern-Simons theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We develop a topological framework for preparing families of non-stabilizer states, and computing their entanglement entropies, in SU(2)1 Chern-Simons theory. Using the Kac-Moody algebra, we construct Pauli and Clifford operators as path integrals over 3-

Finite‐Time Protocols Stabilize Charging in Noisy Ising Quantum Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
A transverse‐field quantum Ising chain is charged as a quantum battery using finite‐time ramps, which suppress energy oscillations and stabilize charging compared to sudden quenches. When time‐correlated noise is introduced, the outcome depends entirely on the protocol: noise can either boost stored energy or improve efficiency, never both ...

Heralded ultrafast generation of macroscopic quantum states in matter with bright squeezed vacuum light

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We show that bright squeezed vacuum light, combined with a single-shot quadrature measurement of the post-interaction light, enables the ultrafast generation of macroscopic quantum states in matter.

Restoration of temperate forestry‐drained fens brings back key species and ecosystem function

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
Our results highlight that rewetting forestry‐drained temperate fens can lead to partial vegetation recovery and jump‐start peat formation. Abstract Fen peatlands act as carbon sinks and are hotspots for specialized species, but a large proportion of fens have been drained for agricultural or forestry use.

The Potential for Pest Management Using Plant‐Derived Signaling Compounds

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 5, September 2026.
Plant‐derived signaling compounds mediate ecological interactions among plants, herbivores, their natural enemies, and neighboring plants. This graphical summary highlights three approaches to leveraging such ecological interactions for environmentally benign pest management: (1) Recruitment of natural enemies: Using herbivory‐induced plant volatiles ...

Conspecific cueing or cooperative feeding?—Foraging stable flies are visually attracted to conspecific flies

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 512-529, September 2026.
In two‐choice laboratory bioassays, food‐deprived and CO2‐stimulated stable flies were offered paired landing platforms that were baited or not (control) with conspecific flies. The presence of conspecifics prompted the attraction and landing of foraging stable flies.

Global variational quantum circuits for arbitrary symmetric state preparation

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Quantum states that are symmetric under particle exchange play a crucial role in fields such as quantum metrology and quantum error correction. We use a variational circuit composed of global one-axis twisting and global rotations to efficiently prepare ...

Regular language quantum states [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We introduce regular language states, a family of quantum many-body states. They are built from a special class of formal languages, called regular, which has been thoroughly studied in the field of computer science.

Health Message Receptivity and Health Disparities as a Multiple‐Mind Problem: An Interpersonal Persuasion Approach

open access: yesSocial and Personality Psychology Compass, Volume 20, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Health messages can only improve health when audiences engage with them. Yet, receptivity to health messages is not uniform, and unequal engagement may contribute to health disparities. We approach these problems through the lens of interpersonal persuasion: health communication unfolds between message sources and recipients embedded in social,
