Grass xylan structural variation suggests functional specialization and distinctive interaction with cellulose and lignin

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 113, Issue 5, Page 1004-1020, March 2023., 2023
SUMMARY Xylan is the most abundant non‐cellulosic polysaccharide in grass cell walls, and it has important structural roles. The name glucuronoarabinoxylan (GAX) is used to describe this variable hemicellulose. It has a linear backbone of β‐1,4‐xylose (Xyl) residues that may be substituted with α‐1,2‐linked (4‐O‐methyl)‐glucuronic acid (GlcA), α‐1,3 ...

Draft genome sequences of 17 isolates of the plant pathogenic bacterium Dickeya [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Dickeya (formerly Erwinia chrysanthemi) species cause diseases on a wide range of crops and ornamental plants worldwide. Here we present the draft sequences of 17 Dickeya isolates spanning four Dickeya species, including five isolates that are currently ...

First Report of Dickeya chrysanthemi Causing Bacterial Soft Rot of Aloe vera in Sri Lanka

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences – Sri Lanka, 2021
Purpose: In September 2019, a rapidly spreading soft rot disease was observed in an Aloe vera cultivation in Puttlam District, Sri Lanka causing rotting of leaves and whole plant death, within three to five days. Identification of causal pathogen of soft rot was the main objective for effective management of the disease.

First Report of Bacterial Wilt on Chrysanthemum Caused by Dickeya chrysanthemi (syn. Erwinia chrysanthemi) in Hungary

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2014
Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum spp.) is a popular potted and cut plant ornamental in Hungary. In September 2012, chrysanthemum plants (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat. cv. Palisade) showing wilt symptoms were collected from different greenhouses in the cities of Budakalász and Pilis near Budapest.

Dickeya chrysanthemi

open access: yes, 2018
Description of Dickeya chrysanthemi 9023 Cells are Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, nonpigmented and rod-shaped. Colonies are irregular, undulate, glistening and white colored after incubation for 2 days on R2 A at 30℃. Positive for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, esculin hydrolysis, gelatin hydrolysis and β ...

Bacterial Diseases of Bananas and Enset: Current State of Knowledge and Integrated Approaches Toward Sustainable Management

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Bacterial diseases of bananas and enset have not received, until recently, an equal amount of attention compared to other major threats to banana production such as the fungal diseases black leaf streak (Mycosphaerella fijiensis) and Fusarium wilt ...

Ferredoxin containing bacteriocins suggest a novel mechanism of iron uptake in Pectobacterium spp [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In order to kill competing strains of the same or closely related bacterial species, many bacteria produce potent narrow-spectrum protein antibiotics known as bacteriocins.

Regulators Involved in Dickeya solani Virulence, Genetic Conservation, and Functional Variability

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2014
Bacteria from the genus Dickeya (formerly Erwinia chrysanthemi) are plant pathogens causing severe diseases in many economically important crops. A majority of the strains responsible for potato disease in Europe belong to a newly identified Dickeya ...

Biochemical characterization and cytotoxic evaluation of mutant isoforms of L-asparaginase II from Dickeya chrysanthemi (Erwinia chrysanthemi)

open access: yes, 2022
