First Report of Bacterial Soft Rot on Vanda Orchids Caused by Dickeya chrysanthemi (Erwinia chrysanthemi) in the United States

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2008
Vanda orchids are epiphytes grown for their attractive flowers by commercial producers and hobbyists throughout Florida. In August 2007, five Vanda hybrids, with an economic value of $150 each, were found at a nursery in central Florida with leaves that were macerated, brown, and water soaked.

Bacterial Stem Rot of Poinsettia Caused by a Dickeya sp. (Pectobacterium chrysanthemi) in China

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2008
In December 2006, a rot symptom of unknown etiology was observed on stems of plants (Euphorbia pulcherrima cv. Fu-xing) at a flower nursery in the Zhejiang Province of China where we had previously reported leaf spot of poinsettia caused by Xanthomonas campestris (2).

Unique features of Erwinia chrysanthemi (Dickeya dadantii) RA3B genes involved in the blue indigoidine production

open access: yesMicrobiological Research, 2010
Erwinia chrysanthemi (Ech) RA3B produces a large amount of blue indigoidine. Using Tn5-induced mutagenesis, three indigoidine-deficient mutants were generated. Followed by library screening, a 5.8kb fragment complemented mutants for indigoidine synthesis was cloned.

First Report of Stem Rot on Potato Caused by Dickeya chrysanthemi in Minnesota

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2018
Bacterial soft rot and black leg diseases of potato occur sporadically in the Upper Midwestern United States. Multiple members of the soft rot Enterobacteriaceae (SRE) cause diseases in potato. The taxonomy of SREs has undergone extensive revision, resulting in the establishment of new genera and species to better reflect the phylogeny and diversity of

Chrysobactin Siderophores Produced by Dickeya chrysanthemi EC16

open access: yes, 2016
The plant pathogen Dickeya chrysanthemi EC16 (formerly known as Petrobacterium chrysanthemi EC16 and Erwinia chrysanthemi EC16) was found to produce a new triscatecholamide siderophore, cyclic trichrysobactin, the related catecholamide compounds, linear ...

Structural and thermodynamic analyses of a novel β‐1,2‐glucan binding mode in the ABC transporter solute‐binding protein Chy400_4166 from Chloroflexus aurantiacus

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cyclic β‐1,2‐glucan (CβG)‐associated solute‐binding protein of type I ABC transporter was originally identified in Chloroflexus aurantiacus, a phototrophic bacterium. Crystal structures in complex with CβGs revealed unique binding modes that are fundamentally distinct from that of the short β‐1,2‐glucooligosaccharides‐binding protein.

The Flagellar Sigma Factor FliA Is Required for Dickeya dadantii Virulence

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2008
The genome sequence of the Enterobacteriaceae phytopathogen Dickeya dadantii (formerly Erwinia chrysanthemi) revealed homologs of genes required for a complete flagellar secretion system and one flagellin gene. We found that D.

Chromosomal “Stress-Response” Domains Govern the Spatiotemporal Expression of the Bacterial Virulence Program

open access: yesmBio, 2015
Recent studies strongly suggest that the gene expression sustaining both normal and pathogenic bacterial growth is governed by the structural dynamics of the chromosome.
