Systemic Bioavailability of Topical Diclofenac Sodium Gel 1% Versus Oral Diclofenac Sodium in Healthy Volunteers

The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 2010
Systemic bioavailability and pharmacodynamics of topical diclofenac sodium gel 1% were compared with those of oral diclofenac sodium 50‐mg tablets. In a randomized, 3‐way crossover study, healthy volunteers (n = 40) received three 7‐day diclofenac regimens: (A) 16 g gel applied as 4 g to 1 knee 4 times daily (4 g on surface area 400 cm2), (B) 48 g gel ...

Diclofenac sodium.

Clinical pharmacy, 1989
The pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical efficacy, adverse effects, and dosage of diclofenac sodium are reviewed. Diclofenac, the first nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) to be approved that is a phenylacetic acid derivative, competes with arachidonic acid for binding to cyclo-oxygenase, resulting in decreased formation of prostaglandins.

Diclofenac Sodium Loaded Multicomponent Implant

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008
Earlier we have reported on developing DS releasing bioabsorbable rods for inhibition of osteolysis [l]. Due to their unsatisfactory drug release profiles we assessed the use of sintering technique of enhancement of drug release in the current study. Melt extruded PLGA 80/20 rods were compounded 8 wt‐% DS.

Taste masking of diclofenac sodium using microencapsulation

Journal of Microencapsulation, 2002
This study addresses how to mask the undesirable taste of diclofenac sodium (DS) without interfering with an adequate rate of drug release. DS microcapsules were successfully prepared using a system of ethylcellulose (EC)-toluene-petroleum ether. The system was optimized by the construction of the phase diagram and determination of the amount of EC ...

[X-ray crystallographic studies of diclofenac-sodium--structural analysis of diclofenac-sodium tetrahydrate].

Die Pharmazie, 1989
The crystal structure of the hydrate of the antiphlogistic drug diclofenac sodium was determined to explain the unusual dissolution behaviour in ethyl acetate. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m with a = 9.464(2), b = 39.405(7), c = 9.972(3) A und beta = 90.74(2) degrees.
