Benzoxazinoid biosynthesis in dicot plants
Phytochemistry, 2008Benzoxazinoids are common defence compounds of the grasses and are sporadically found in single species of two unrelated orders of the dicots. In the three dicotyledonous species Aphelandra squarrosa, Consolida orientalis and Lamium galeobdolon the main benzoxazinoid aglucon is 2,4-dihydroxy-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (DIBOA).

Can DiCoT Improve Infection Control?
Proceedings of the 2016 CHI Conference Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2016Inhibited information flow in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) can degrade patient wellbeing and expose hospital staff to hazardous conditions. To identify areas for improvement, we applied the Distributed Cognition for Teamwork (DiCoT) methodology and representational framework in a large hospital in the Southeastern US.

Mueller matrix of a dicot leaf
SPIE Proceedings, 2012A better understanding of the information contained in the spectral, polarized bidirectional reflectance and transmittance of leaves may lead to improved techniques for identifying plant species in remotely sensed imagery as well as better estimates of plant moisture and nutritional status.

Structural Heterogeneity of Phospholipase D in 10 Dicots
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996The occurrence of multiple forms of phospholipase D (EC 3.1.4.4) was investigated in different tissues of castor bean (Ricinus communis) and in other plant species. Phospholipase D variants were resolved by nondenaturing and isoelectric focusing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and detected by immunoblotting using anti-phospholipase D antibodies and ...

Somatic Embryogenesis in Herbaceous Dicots
1995The seed is the primary organ for the perpetuation of germplasm and propagation in all flowering plants. It contains the embryo which develops from the zygote following the fertilization of the egg cell by one of the male gametes. Gene recombination during the formation, as well as the fusion, of the gametes plays a critical role in the evolution of ...

Perfecting prime editing: achieving precise edits in dicots
Trends in Plant SciencePrime editing (PE), a precise CRISPR-based method, has worked well in some plants but faces challenges in dicots. Vu and colleagues developed new PE tools that greatly improve PE efficiency in dicots, enabling accurate, heritable genome edits. This advance marks a breakthrough that could revolutionize crop improvement and plant biotechnology.
