Complete mitochondrial genomes of Nanorana taihangnica and N. yunnanensis (Anura: Dicroglossidae) with novel gene arrangements and phylogenetic relationship of Dicroglossidae

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2018
Background Complete mitochondrial (mt) genomes have been used extensively to test hypotheses about microevolution and to study population structure, phylogeography, and phylogenetic relationships of Anura at various taxonomic levels.

Structure of the saxiphilin:saxitoxin (STX) complex reveals a convergent molecular recognition strategy for paralytic toxins. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Dinoflagelates and cyanobacteria produce saxitoxin (STX), a lethal bis-guanidinium neurotoxin causing paralytic shellfish poisoning. A number of metazoans have soluble STX-binding proteins that may prevent STX intoxication.

Could species‐focused suppression of Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito, and Aedes albopictus, the tiger mosquito, affect interacting predators? An evidence synthesis from the literature

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 78, Issue 7, Page 2729-2745, July 2022., 2022
The risks of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus nuisance and vector‐borne diseases are rising and their ranges are expanding. The studies identified by this extensive review come together to suggest little potential risk of adverse impact of suppressing or eliminating invasive Aedes spp. on their predators and food webs.

Morphological diversity of tadpoles of fork-tongued frogs (Anura: Dicroglossidae) with different trophic specializations [PDF]

open access: yesVertebrate Zoology
Dicroglossid tadpoles are an important element of pond and stream communities in Southeast Asia. They are often found in syntopy but belong to different trophic guilds, from generalized detritophages to specialized predators. In the present research, the
