Curing of epoxy resins by dicyandiamide

Polymer Bulletin, 1992
The reaction course, the final structure and the thermal behaviour of dicyandiamide cured epoxy resins were studied by HPLC, Carbon-13 NMR (liquid and solid state), IR, gel time determination, DSC and evolved gas analysis. N, N-dimethyl-benzylamine, imidazole and Monuron were applied as three different accelerator types.

Metal-mediated addition of alcohols to dicyandiamide

Polyhedron, 1989
Abstract The syntheses of 1-amidino-O-alkylurea sulphates and their corresponding copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes are described. These compounds exhibit bi-univalent electrolyte conductances in aqueous solution. The electronic spectra and magnetic moments of the copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes are characteristic of square planar ...

Kinetics of curing of epoxide oligomers by dicyandiamide

Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1985
Abstract Kinetics of the reaction between oligomeric diane epoxides of different functionality with respect to epoxide groups, and dicyandiamide in the presence of hexamethylenetetramine has been investigated. The reaction rate is proportional to the concentration of epoxide groups.

Decomposition rate of dicyandiamide and nitrification inhibition

Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 1989
Abstract Degradation of dicyandiamide (DCD) was assayed in laboratory studies at 8, 15, and 22 C in a Decatur silt loam and in a Norfolk loamy sand. Dicyandiamide was very short lived at 22 C, with half‐lives of 7.4 and 14.7 days in the Decatur and Norfolk soils, respectively. In the Norfolk soil at 8 C, half‐life increased to 52.2 days.

Curing of epoxy resins with dicyandiamide and urones

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1993
Abstract The curing of epoxy resins using dicyandiamide (DICY) and combinations of DICY with several uron accelerators as curing agents is investigated. DSC, FTIR, mechanical, and sorption measurements indicate complex multistage curing processes. There is no evidence that the curing reaction is catalyzed by DICY.

Radiation chemistry of aqueous solutions of dicyandiamide

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1979
Oxygen-free aqueous solutions of dicyandiamide, DCDA, were exposed to /sup 60/Co ..gamma.. rays or a pulsed 10-MeV electron beam. Fast kinetic spectrophotometry was used for the study of free-radical intermediates, and computer simulation of the reaction mechanism for evaluation of experimental data. The hydrated electron reacts by addition, k(e/sub aq/

Dicyandiamide analysis and solubility in epoxy resins

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1981
AbstractA simple procedure is described for the rapid, quantitative analysis of dicyandiamide in epoxy resins and epoxy resin prepregs. High performance liquid chromatography is used to analyze for dicyandiamide and to investigate the solubility behavior of dicyandiamide and 3‐(p‐chlorophenyl)‐1,1‐dimethylurea (Monuron) in liquid epoxy resins ...

N,N?-Bis(trimethylsilyl)dicyandiamide

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 1994
N,N′-Bis(trimethylsilyl)dicyandiamide was prepared for the first time by the reaction of dicyandiamide with hexamethyldisilazane in boiling tetrahydrofuran. Thermal transformations of this compound were studied by DTA. The novel compound may be used in the synthesis of bis(trimethylsilyl)carbodiimide.
