Seasonal changes in diel haul‐out patterns of a lacustrine ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis)
Seasonal changes in diel haul‐out patterns of the lacustrine Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) were studied using a combination of satellite telemetry and camera traps during 2007–2015. We found the haul‐out activity patterns to vary seasonally.

Characterizing the Long-Term, Wide-Band and Deep-Water Soundscape Off Hawai’i
Many animals use sound for communication, navigation, and foraging, particularly in deep water or at night when light is limited, so describing the soundscape is essential for understanding, protecting, and managing these species and their environments ...

Rough paths and 1d sde with a time dependent distributional drift. Application to polymers [PDF]
Motivated by the recent advances in the theory of stochastic partial differential equations involving nonlinear functions of distributions, like the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation, we reconsider the unique solvability of one-dimensional stochastic ...

Clouds, shadows, or twilight? Mayfly nymphs recognise the difference [PDF]
1. We examined the relative changes in light intensity that initiate night-time locomotor activity changes in nymphs of the mayfly, Stenonema modestum (Heptageniidae).

Acoustic behavior of melon-headed whales varies on a diel cycle. [PDF]
Many terrestrial and marine species have a diel activity pattern, and their acoustic signaling follows their current behavioral state. Whistles and echolocation clicks on long-term recordings produced by melon-headed whales (Peponocephala electra) at ...

Diel and seasonal courses of ambient carbon dioxide concentration and their effect on productivity of the epilithic lichen Lecanora muralis in a temperate, suburban habitat [PDF]
Ambient CO₂ concentration (together with CO₂ exchange and microclimate) was recorded every 30 min for 15 months for Lecanora muralis growing in the Botanical Garden Würzburg (Germany, northern Bavaria), a habitat on the outskirts of the city. Annual mean

Small-scale distribution of juvenile gadoids in shallow inshore waters; what role does maerl play? [PDF]
The indirect effects of demersal fisheries, such as habitat degradation, are currently thought to be impacting gadoid stocks. Maerl fulfils nursery area prerequisites for several invertebrate species, so its role in similar ecosystem service provision ...
