Solar Flow Synthesis of Polymer Nanoparticles: Scaling Local Experiments to Global Potential

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The large‐scale sunlight‐induced photochemical synthesis of polymer nanoparticles based on the Diels–Alder step‐growth polymerization of a bismaleimide and a difunctional o‐methylbenzaldehyde in a self‐built solar flow reactor is introduced. Furthermore, a framework is established to translate sunlight‐driven experimental results globally—validated in ...

Diel fluctuations of viscosity-driven riparian inflow affect streamflow DOC concentration [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2018
Diel fluctuations of stream water DOC concentrations are generally explained by a complex interplay of different instream processes. We measured the light absorption spectrum of water and DOC concentrations in situ and with high frequency by means of ...

Oxygen minimum zone: An important oceanographic habitat for deep-diving northern elephant seals, Mirounga angustirostris. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Little is known about the foraging behavior of top predators in the deep mesopelagic ocean. Elephant seals dive to the deep biota-poor oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) (>800 m depth) despite high diving costs in terms of energy and time, but how they ...

Clickable Microgel Inks Enable Spatioselective, Multi‐Stimuli Programmable Assembly of Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Clickable microgel inks enable direct ink writing of hydrogel architectures with intrinsic spatioselective and programmable multi‐responsiveness. By combining pH‐responsive and temperature‐responsive microgel building blocks through Diels‐Alder interparticle crosslinking, the assemblies exhibit controllable swelling and shape changes.

Variação nictemeral da clorofila a, produção primária do fitoplâncton e fatores ambientais da região de Ubatuba (Lat. 23º30'S Long. 45º06'W) Diel variations in chlorophyll a, phytoplancton primary production and enviromental factors from Ubatuba region (Lat. 23º30'S Long. 45º06'W)

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 1991
A series of experiments with natural phytoplankton populations was carried out to study the diel variation of chlrophyll a, primary production and some environmental factors.

Circadian clock gene expression in the coral Favia fragum over diel and lunar reproductive cycles. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Natural light cycles synchronize behavioral and physiological cycles over varying time periods in both plants and animals. Many scleractinian corals exhibit diel cycles of polyp expansion and contraction entrained by diel sunlight patterns, and monthly ...

Limit law of the local time for Brox's diffusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We consider Brox's model: a one-dimensional diffusion in a Brownian potential W. We show that the normalized local time process (L(t;m_(log t) + x)=t; x \in R), where m_(log t) is the bottom of the deepest valley reached by the process before time t ...

Bioorthogonal Sonodynamic Plug‐and‐Play Targeting Chimeras (SDPTAC) for Precise Targeted Protein Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioorthogonal SDPTAC harnesses US‐responsive Ce6‐TCO and Tz ligands via IEDDA click chemistry to assemble degraders in situ, generating ROS that selectively eliminate nuclear, cytosolic, and membrane proteins, thereby suppressing deep‐seated tumors in vivo.

Static Acoustic Monitoring of Harbour (Phoca vitulina) and Grey Seals (Halichoerus grypus) in the Malin Sea: A Revolutionary Approach in Pinniped Conservation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Harbour and grey seals rely on acoustic signals to mate, socialise and defend their territory. Previous studies have focused on their behaviour, movements and communication from the coast, leaving a knowledge gap in the offshore environments, and ...

Ontogenetic behavior of farm-bred Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) prelarvae in a diel photoperiodic cycle: behavioral modifications in response to light intensity

open access: yesFisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2019
Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) is commercially important in Korea because its caviar is highly prized. Although the early ontogeny of the species has been described, behavioral modifications in response to various light intensities or diel ...
