Diel vertical migration of fish in a Neotropical reservoir
Marine and Freshwater Research, 2016Vertical distribution of fish was studied immediately upstream of the Três Marias hydroelectric power plant dam from December 2010 to December 2011. Eighteen field trips were conducted for hydroacoustic sampling over a period of 24 h each time, with 6-h diel sampling intervals within each of the 18 sample dates.

Not Being Eaten I: Diel Vertical Migration
2023Abstract Early near-surface zooplankton sampling revealed more of many species being caught at night than in daylight. Hypotheses abounded, several still current. For many species the answer is daily (“diel”) vertical migration (DVM): down to darker waters during daylight, up to better feeding at night.

Diel vertical migration of zooplankton and mesopelagic fish in the Arabian Sea
Deep Sea Research Part II: Topical Studies in Oceanography, 2000No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author.Acoustic (153 kHzADCP and 12 kHz hull transducers), and MOCNESS (MOC! and MOClO) tow data collected in the Arabian Sea during intermonsoon (April/May) and monsoon (August) periods document substantial die!

Diel vertical migration arising in a habitat selection game
Theoretical Ecology, 2012Predator and prey react to each other, adjusting their behavior to maximize their fitness and optimizing their food intake while keeping their predation risk as low as possible. In a pelagic environment, prey reduce their predation mortality by adopting a diel vertical migration (DVM) strategy, avoiding their predator during their peak performance by ...
