Dielectric Barrier Discharge Ionization of Perfluorinated Compounds
Analytical Chemistry, 2015The soft ionization ability based on plasma-jet protonation of molecules initiated by a dielectric barrier discharge ionization source (DBDI) is certainly an interesting application for analytical chemistry. Since the change of an applied sinusoidal voltage may lead to different discharge modes the applied discharge was powered by a square wave ...

Peculiarities of Dielectric Barrier Discharges
Contributions to Plasma Physics, 2001The dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is a highly transient, non-thermal discharge form, which exists in a broad pressure range. It occurs in arrangements, where a dielectric layer covers at least one electrode. The dielectric quenches the current and distributes the discharge over the whole surface. Depending on the geometrical conditions three basic

Optical Characterization of Surface Dielectric Barrier Discharges
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2011Surface dielectric barrier discharges (SDBDs) provide homogeneous plasma over a large surface area. This allows surface treatments of foils, textiles, or fibers. In this paper, we present results of a study to characterize the pulsed performance of SDBD by fast imaging of the plasma development.

Dielectric barrier discharge source for supersonic beams
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009We present a new excitation source for pulsed supersonic beams. The excitation is based on dielectric barrier discharge in the beam. It produces cold beams of metastable atoms, dissociated neutral atoms from molecular precursors, and both positive and negative ions with high efficiency and reliability.

Liquid analysis dielectric capillary barrier discharge
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2010In this study a simple micro-tube-based system for analysis of metal-containing liquids is introduced and its analytical performance is evaluated. It is based on a miniaturised dielectric barrier discharge driven at atmospheric pressure. The emission lines of various elements are observed.

The effect of air plasma on barrier dielectric surface in dielectric barrier discharge
Applied Surface Science, 2010Abstract Barrier dielectric is an important part of atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge (AP-DBD), which partly affects discharge characteristics. Conversely, discharge plasma also has influence on dielectric surface properties. To investigate this influence, some experiments were carried out on a home-built AP-DBD system with glass ...

Space charge effects in a dielectric barrier discharge barrier discharge plasma
The 30th International Conference on Plasma Science, 2003. ICOPS 2003. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts., 2003Summary form only given, as follows. Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is the one of well-known discharge types at the atmosphere pressure. The characteristic of this discharge can be expressed in terms of a randomly distributed microdischarge, which is heterogeneously formed cylindrical current filament in a discharge space.

Bromomethane decomposition using a pulsed dielectric barrier discharge
2011 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2011The decomposition of bromomethane (CH3Br), which is an ozone-depleting substance, is carried out using a pulsed dielectric barrier discharge. To accomplish this, a plasma reactor comprising a stainless discharge wire electrode and a quartz cylinder wrapped with a copper mesh as the ground electrode is employed.

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma for Endodontic Treatment
2014Recently Dielectric Barrier Discharge plasma is being explored for its application as an alternative to the conventional sterilization and disinfection techniques in medical sciences. Dielectric barrier discharge plasma torch has been developed to study the interaction of plasma and effect of its treatment on the growth rate of S.

Discharge Characteristics of an Atmospheric Dielectric-Barrier Discharge Jet
IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 2015This paper reports that a plasma generator at atmospheric pressure, which is characterized by double dielectric layers and a stable dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) excited by a sinusoidal power supply of 30 kHz, successfully generates a low-temperature argon plasma jet. The DBD has a coaxial and cylindrical configuration, with an annular gap of 2.35
