Disorder‐Induced Extremely Low Thermal Conductivity of Graphite Fluoride

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article investigates the effect of fluorination on the thermal conductivity of graphite fluoride, demonstrating the relationship between structural modification and thermal conductivity in an extreme case. The record‐low through‐plane thermal conductivity measured in exfoliated graphite fluoride flakes was found to correlate with the wide ...

Wavy‐Interlocked Stretchable Triboelectric Nanogenerators Enhanced by Liquid Metal Microflowers for Self‐Powered Wearable Motion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic showing a stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator based on interlocked wavy architectures that uses EGaIn microflower‐embedded PVDF‐TrFE and Nylon‐6 nanofiber membranes. The multi‐petaled, electron‐rich EGaIn microflowers enhance interfacial polarization and capacitance, while the interlocked wavy architecture enlarges the effective contact ...

Investigation of the dielectric breakdown strength of polymer nanocomposites

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this thesis is to investigate the possibility of enhancing the dielectric breakdown strength (DBS) of low density polyethylene (LDPE) with addition of voltage stabilizing additives. In the first part of the thesis, the influence of various process parameters on the alternating current DBS of pure LDPE and LDPE containing either 3 or 30 wt ...

Dielectric Breakdown of Cell Membranes

open access: yes, 1974
With human and bovine red blood cells and Escherichia coli B, dielectric breakdown of cell membranes could be demonstrated using a Coulter Counter (AEG-Telefunken, Ulm, West Germany) with a hydrodynamic focusing orifice.

Physical model for electroporation of cell membranes

open access: yesAIP Advances
By treating the human cell structure as a layered dielectric capacitor, a physical model has been developed for the electroporation of cell membranes. It is shown, from dielectric physics and using Gibbs potential/free-energy principles, that hydrogen ...

Changing the microstructure of membranes using intense electric fields: Dielectric strength studies

open access: yes, 2014
Electric breakdown studies using a range of membranes made of various polymers showed that, in principle, electrical poling can be applied to most membranes types. The results showed that the electric breakdown behavior of membranes was affected by their

Polymorphic Superparaelectric Engineering Boosting Energy Storage Capacity in BaTiO3‐Based Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein, Ca2+ incorporation promotes the coexistence of CaTiO3‐/BaTiO3‐derived paraferroelectric states, stabilizing cubic‐orthorhombic‐tetragonal polymorphic superparaelectric phases. This minimizes polarization energy barriers, facilitating full polarization saturation without compromising efficiency.

Dielectric Breakdown Strength of Polymer Nanocomposites-The Effect of Nanofiller Content

open access: yesProceedings of the Nordic Insulation Symposium, 2018
Insulation materials can be tailored by compounding nanofillers and polymer materials. The advantageous changes in properties of polymer nanocomposites can be explained by the large interface area of the nanofillers. Theoretical models developed in the field of nanodielectrics concentrate on the analysis of the interface volume.Dielectric breakdown ...

Buried Unstrained Germanium Channels: A Lattice‐Matched Platform for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Strained germanium (ε$\varepsilon$‐Ge) and strained silicon (ε$\varepsilon$‐Si) buried quantum wells have enabled advanced spin‐qubit quantum processors. However, in the absence of suitable lattice‐matched substrates, ε$\varepsilon$‐Ge and ε$\varepsilon$‐Si are deposited on defective, metamorphic SiGe buffers, which may impact device ...
