Experimental investigation of dielectric properties of seasonal snow at field observatories in the northwest Himalaya

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 2016
Radio-echo sounding techniques are very useful for fast profiling of seasonal snowpack. Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is used widely for various cryospheric applications, such as snow/glacier depth estimation, snow layer identification and snow water ...

Magnetodielectric coupling in Mn3O4

open access: yes, 2007
We have investigated the dielectric anomalies associated with spin ordering transitions in the tetragonal spinel Mn$_3$O$_4$, using thermodynamic, magnetic, and dielectric measurements. We find that two of the three magnetic ordering transitions in Mn$_3$

All-organic dielectric-percolative three-component composite materials with high electromechanical response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
By combining the high-dielectric copper phthalocyanine oligomer (PolyCuPc) and conductive polyanline (PANI) within polyurethane (PU) matrix an all-organic three-component dielectric-percolative composite with high dielectric constant is demonstrated.

Design of Multiphase Compositionally Complex Alloys for Enhanced Hardness at Elevated Temperatures and Machinability: Comparative Study with Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study compares the mechanical properties of Inconel 718 with two newly developed compositionally complex alloys (CCAs). Inco‐like‐H alloy demonstrates significantly improved wear resistance, surface finish, and hardness, notably at high temperatures. This CCA requires no heat treatment and is well suited for additive manufacturing. Its performance

Mineral Soil Texture–Land Cover Dependency on Microwave Dielectric Models in an Arid Environment

open access: yesLand, 2020
In this study, we measured and characterized the relative dielectric constant of mineral soils over the 0.3−3.0 frequency range, and compared our measurements with values of three dielectric constant simulation models (the Wang, Dobson, and Mironov

Effects of Ion Solvation on the Miscibility of Binary Polymer Blends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We study the effects of adding salt ions on the miscibility of a binary blend of polymers having different dielectric constants. The competition between the preference of the ions to be solvated by the component of the higher dielectric constant and the ...

Computing the Kirkwood g-Factor by Combining Constant Maxwell Electric Field and Electric Displacement Simulations: Application to the Dielectric Constant of Liquid Water.

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2016
In his classic 1939 paper, Kirkwood linked the macroscopic dielectric constant of polar liquids to the local orientational order as measured by the g-factor (later named after him) and suggested that the corresponding dielectric constant at short-range ...

Microcellular Poly (Ethylene‐Co‐Vinyl Acetate)/Lignin Nanocomposites for Soft Ferroelectrets

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Lignin valorization for advanced porous polymer nanocomposites development and an upscaling route for continuous manufacturing of soft ferroelectrets for energy harvesting are studied. This work examines the role of lignin and carbon nanotubes (CNT) in modifying the mechanical, dielectric, and ferroelectret properties of poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate)

Highly Stable Low‐Temperature Phosphate Glass as a Platform for Multimaterial 3D Printing of Integrated Functional Microfluidic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A highly stable, low‐temperature phosphate glass is developed for multimaterial additive manufacturing of multifunctional microfluidics. Glass, metal conductors, and sacrificial polymer are coprinted, enabling monolithic fabrication. The sacrificial paste forms precise channels and decomposes during sintering.
