Actuation response of polyacrylate dielectric elastomers [PDF]
Polyacrylate dielectric elastomers have yielded extremely large strain and elastic energy density suggesting that they are useful for many actuator applications. A thorough understanding of the physics underlying the mechanism of the observed response to an electric field can help develop improved actuators.

Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Contact angles of persistent μL$\mu{\rm L}$‐sized water droplets on a mechanically soft MAE surface under time varying magnetic fields differ from those of newly deposited droplets. The ability to quickly alter the material properties allows one to observe intriguing droplet‐material interactions.
