Decoherence in Josephson Qubits from Dielectric Loss [PDF]
Dielectric loss from two-level states is shown to be a dominant decoherence source in superconducting quantum bits. Depending on the qubit design, dielectric loss from insulating materials or the tunnel junction can lead to short coherence times.

Comparative Study of Experimental Methods for Measuring Thermal Properties of 100Cr6 Steel Powders
This study investigates the thermal properties of 100Cr6 steel in both bulk and powder forms. Measuring the very low thermal conductivity typically exhibited by powders poses significant challenges. To address this, two novel measurement techniques—temperature gradient and finite laser pulse response—are introduced and evaluated by comparison with the ...

Mechanical and dielectric response of microcomposites of the type: ferroelastic-dielectric [PDF]
Dynamic dielectric and mechanical responses of the microcomposites of the ferroelastic-dielectric type were studied in this paper. The mechanical inclusions-matrix interactions have influence on the mechanical moduli of the composite. We have studied a mechanical response of the composite which consists of the material M and of the other material I in ...
