Dielectric materials

2018
Abstract Describes the mechanisms that give rise to electric field-driven effects in insulating materials, including electronic, molecular and orientational polarization. Discusses the frequency dependence of the complex dielectric constant, the refractive index (which determines optical effects), and the dispersion of electromagnetic ...

Materials informatics for dielectric materials

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2018
We report on the search for new dielectric materials suitable for use in ceramic capacitors at high frequencies and temperatures by a large set of first-principles calculations. Crystal data of 3,382 candidate compounds were obtained from the Materials Project database.

Dielectric materials for electrowetting-on-dielectric actuation

Microsystem Technologies, 2009
The fundamental building blocks of typical electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD) actuation and their importance in the EWOD mechanism are introduced and reviewed, respectively. The emphasis in this experimental study of EWOD is on dielectric materials, upon which the performance of EWOD devices is heavily dependent.

Mechanical and Dielectric Properties of Low Permittivity Dielectric Materials

MRS Proceedings, 1996
AbstractThe dielectric and mechanical properties of low permittivity dielectric/metal system consisting of fluoropolymers and copper were studied. The types of polymers in this study include sputtered Teflon, plasma-deposited fluoropolymers and the soluble Teflon AF1600.

Dielectric function of layered materials

Physical Review B, 1990
The dielectric response function is calculated for a layered system. The calculation includes electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions. The phonons polarized perpendicular and parallel to the {ital c} axis enter the screening function very differently.

Nanostructured dielectric materials

2010 10th IEEE International Conference on Solid Dielectrics, 2010
This paper presents a progress update with the development of nanostructured dielectric materials for various high energy, high power density electrical applications. It is demonstrated that novel electrical/dielectric properties can be achieved via the nanostructure and interface engineering. We present a high level summary of the progress achieved as
