Variable-Permittivity Artificial Dielectrics

1971 IEEE GMTT International Microwave Symposium Digest, 1971
The use of liquid suspensions as a new class of microwave artificial dielectrics was explored. Liquid media were constructed with permittivities dependent on the strength of a low-frequency electric control field. Operating characteristics were measured for a 50 KW, 360/spl deg/ Ku-band waveguide phase shifter employing a practical liquid-suspension ...

The permittivity of hydrostatically stressed dielectrics

Philosophical Magazine, 1962
Abstract Experiments have been carried out to determine the change of permittivity of some well-known solid dielectrics with pressure. The dielectrics, in the form of slabs of the order of 0.1 mm thick and 1 cm2 in area, were submitted to hydrostatic pressures up to 3000 kg/cm2 in oil, and the fractional change in capacity was observed.

Dielectric nanocomposite with high dielectric permittivity and low dielectric loss

2015 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2015
Dielectric flexible nanocomposites featuring ferroelectric barium titanate nanoparticles embedded in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix were fabricated by a miscible-immiscible coagulation method followed by hot pressing. The SEM images showed good distribution of nanoparticles with very little particle agglomeration.

Effective Permittivity of a Polycrystalline Dielectric

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1970
We use statistical variational principles to determine upper and lower bounds for the effective permittivity of a polycrystalline dielectric. We indicate how to derive bounds containing permittivity correlation functions of arbitrary order, and we obtain explicit expressions for bounds depending on one- and two-point correlation functions and for ...

The frequency and wavelength dependent dielectric permittivity of water

Molecular Physics, 1992
The static and dynamic dielectric behaviour of a model of liquid water is studied in the supercooled region, as a function of wavelength. The data used for this analysis were obtained in a previous molecular dynamics simulation of a sample of 343 water molecules, modelled by the TIP4P potential, at 245 K.

Differential equations and dielectric permittivity

Annual Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2002
An investigation was carried out to determine whether the concept of differential equations with time-dependent coefficients for the polarization is appropriate for the explanation of non-Debye dielectric response. It was found that for these kinds of differential equations no time-independent permittivity exists.

Dielectric permittivity profiles of confined polar fluids

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005
The dielectric response of a simple model of a polar fluid near neutral interfaces is examined by a combination of linear response theory and extensive molecular dynamics simulations. Fluctuation expressions for a local permittivity tensor ϵ(r) are derived for planar and spherical geometries, based on the assumption of a purely local relationship ...

Dielectric permittivity of quantum plasma. Part II

Plasma Physics Reports, 2014
Collisionless quantum plasma models based on the Schrobinger, Klein-Gordon, Dirac, and Pauli equations are considered. The transverse and longitudinal dielectric permittivities of isotropic quantum plasma are calculated in the frameworks of the models based on the Schrobinger and Klein-Gordon equations without allowance for the particle spin ...

High-permittivity relaxation dielectrics

Proceedings of the IEE - Part B: Electronic and Communication Engineering, 1962
The dielectric properties of ceramic materials based on bismuth-strontium titanate are described, and the special features which characterize these materials discussed. Dielectric saturation measurements with high a.c. and d.c. fields are used to illustrate some of the difficulties which arise if the dielectric properties are described in terms of a ...

Microwave dielectrics with enhanced permittivity

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2006
Abstract Depending on the operating frequency range of modern communication systems various microwave elements are required for effective micro-miniaturization of radio equipment. In this work potential ways of developing microwave dielectrics with high permittivity are discussed.
