Dielectric nanocomposite with high dielectric permittivity and low dielectric loss

2015 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2015
Dielectric flexible nanocomposites featuring ferroelectric barium titanate nanoparticles embedded in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix were fabricated by a miscible-immiscible coagulation method followed by hot pressing. The SEM images showed good distribution of nanoparticles with very little particle agglomeration.

High Dielectric Permittivity in Silica–Polyaniline Nanocomposites

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2006
Complex impedance and dielectric permittivity of wide band gap silica-conducting polyaniline nanocomposite have been investigated as a function of frequency and temperature at different compositions. Grain and grain boundary contributions are observed in impedance spectra. The results are interpreted in terms of two series connected equivalent circuit.

ENHANCING THE DIELECTRIC PERMITTIVITY OF ELASTOMERS

2008
The electromechanical transduction properties of any dielectric elastomer are intrinsically regulated by the dielectric permittivity of the material. This parameter proportionally controls both the achievable active stresses and strains. Accordingly, a suitable increase of the material permittivity may provide a valuable means to improve the ...

Effective permittivity of dielectric honeycombs

IEE Proceedings - Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, 1999
The effective permittivity of a dielectric honeycomb can be represented by a diagonal permittivity tensor. In the paper, an empirical equation is derived using the FD-TD (finite difference-time domain) method, which defines the diagonal components of the complex permittivity in terms of the honeycomb material permittivity and the fraction of honeycomb ...

Fano resonance in high-permittivity dielectric spheres

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2016
In this paper, an approximate model is presented to understand Fano resonance observed in the Mie scattering from a homogeneous dielectric sphere. By using the model, we can analyze the Fano parameters and resonance widths of the dielectric spheres with given lossless high-permittivity materials.

Dielectric permittivity of quantum plasma. Part II

Plasma Physics Reports, 2014
Collisionless quantum plasma models based on the Schrobinger, Klein-Gordon, Dirac, and Pauli equations are considered. The transverse and longitudinal dielectric permittivities of isotropic quantum plasma are calculated in the frameworks of the models based on the Schrobinger and Klein-Gordon equations without allowance for the particle spin ...

Dipolar Correlations and the Dielectric Permittivity of Water

Physical Review Letters, 2007
The static dielectric properties of liquid and solid water are investigated within linear response theory in the context of ab initio molecular dynamics. Using maximally localized Wannier functions to treat the macroscopic polarization we formulate a first-principles, parameter-free, generalization of Kirkwood's phenomenological theory.

TDR permittivity measurements of dielectric films

2006 IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2006
We describe a time-domain reflectometry (TDR) technique to measure the dielectric permittivity of film materials with enhanced dielectric constant. The test specimen consists of a planar capacitor terminating coaxial waveguide. The complex permittivity is obtained from analysis of the incident and the reflected voltage waves.

Microwave dielectrics with enhanced permittivity

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2006
Abstract Depending on the operating frequency range of modern communication systems various microwave elements are required for effective micro-miniaturization of radio equipment. In this work potential ways of developing microwave dielectrics with high permittivity are discussed.

Inhomogeneous Dielectric Media: Wave Propagation and Dielectric Permittivity Reconstruction

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2001
In this paper we study the propagation of electromagnetic waves in a waveguide completely filled with a inhomogeneous dielectric material. The material is inhomogeneous in the longitudinal direction, i.e., the dielectric permittivity is described by a function e = e o e r (z). We first solve the direct problem; then we develop a computational procedure
