A low profile radiating element with nearly hemispheric coverage for satellite communications on-the-move hybrid array antenna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A novel design solution of a dual-linearly polarised Ku-band low-profile radiating element for low elevation angle coverage (down to 10° above horizon) is presented. Such an element is suitable for full-duplex Satellite Communications On-The-Move (SCOTM)

On the dragging of light by a rotating medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
When light is passing through a rotating medium the optical polarization is rotated. Recently, it has been reasoned that this rotation applies also to the transmitted image.

Polarisable dielectrics for m.o.s.t.s

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1970
The use of a new and polarisable dielectric layer has made it possible to obtain large threshold-voltage shifts in m.o.s. capacitors.

Calculation of internal and scattered fields of axisymmetric nanoparticles at any point in space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present a method of simultaneously calculating both the internal and external fields of arbitrarily shaped dielectric and metallic axisymmetric nanoparticles.

Polarisation and Energy Loss in Dielectrics [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Physical Society of London, 1913
The Paper discusses the relations which should exist between the coefficients in Pellat's equation (as modified by Schweidler) giving the displacement in a viscous dielectric as a function of the time of charge and the P.D. It is proved that where the polarisation current of a dielectric under the action of a steady E.M.F.

Circularly polarised dielectric resonator antenna

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1994
A circularly polarised dielectric resonator antenna is reported. The circular polarisation is obtained by exciting the two orthogonal HE/sub 11 delta / modes of a cylindrical ring dielectric resonator in phase-quadrature. Measured results show that the antenna has an axial ratio of less than 3 dB over a beam width of 100 degrees with a minimum value of

Non-destructive evaluation of moisture content in wood using ground-penetrating radar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents the results of a series of laboratory measurements, carried out to study how the ground-penetrating radar (GPR) signal is affected by moisture variation in wood material.

90° dielectric polariser in circular waveguide

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2000
Experimental results for a 90° dielectric polariser in a circular waveguide are presented. A small slot notched into the circular waveguide wall, used for the accurate alignment of the dielectric plate, has led to a decrease in the relative phase shift by 15.7%. A new U-shape impedance matching structure results in a bandwidth of 12.4%.

Computer simulation of bistable switching in a nematic device containing pear-shaped particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the microscopic basis of bistable switching of a confined liquid crystal via Monte Carlo simulations of hard pear-shaped particles. Using both dielectric and dipolar field couplings to this intrinsically flexoelectric fluid, it is shown that ...
