Solid State Communications, 1983Abstract The lowest core binding energy of a number of simple metals is close to the plasmon energy of the valence electrons. As a consequence the dielectric properties of these systems for ω of order of ωp are determined by the dynamics of both the valence- and the core electrons and by their mutual interaction.
