Dielectric Polarisation of Phenol
Nature, 1935IT is well known that the molecular polarisation of alcohols in a non-polar medium is exceptional in that it at first increases with concentration and then falls finally to a lower value than that at which it started. The data of Williams and Allgeier1 show that at 25° up to a molar fraction of 0.345 the polarisation of phenol in benzene is constant ...

Influence of polarisation on breakdownstrength of polymeric composite dielectrics
IEE Proceedings - Science, Measurement and Technology, 2001The results of a study of electrical characteristics such as permittivity /spl epsiv/, loss factor tan/spl delta/ and breakdown strength E/sub b/ of new composite materials on the basis of polyvinylchloride filled with ferroelectric ceramic powder PZT are presented.

Fluctuations of partial polarisations in dielectrics
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1979A theory of fluctuations of partial polarisations in dielectrics is formulated on the basis of macroscopic phenomenological equations and thermodynamic fluctuation theory. The distinction between the high-frequency polarisability of molecules and the low-frequency dielectric behaviour of their permanent dipoles gives rise to the selection of local and ...

Polarisation-dependent Attenuation Of Dielectric Cylinder Arrays
International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 'Remote Sensing: Moving Toward the 21st Century'., 2005Inventory of land use by remote sensing is in many cases associated with electromagnetic waves, originating from spacecraft or airplane, on dielectric cylinder arrays. In models or laboratory measurement many natural targets like cereals or coniferous trees may be represented by lossy dielectric cylinders Ill. Depending on the polarization the incident

Reflection at a dielectric in terms of polarisation
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1979The origin of the paradox that the time-dependent properties of a dielectric cannot be obtained from time domain spectroscopy without conversion to the frequency domain is discussed in terms of the calculation of reflection in terms of polarisation.

Hopping losses in polarisable dielectric media
Nature, 1974The loss in most dielectric materials shows a component that is ‘flat’ in frequency over several decades and does not depend strongly on temperature. The usual interpretation as the sum of many Debye-like loss peaks is criticised and a new model is proposed in which charge carriers hop between localised sites in a polarisable medium.

A variable polarisation compensator using artificial dielectrics
Optics Communications, 1999Abstract Artificial dielectrics can be made to exhibit strong birefringence. This property may be used to construct waveplates for a variety of applications. In this article, a method for making a variable artificial dielectric retarder, akin to a Babinet–Soleil compensator, is investigated.

Dielectric Relaxation Study from Polarisability Data
Physics and Chemistry of Liquids, 1989Abstract An analysis of the dielectric data using the polarisability plots have been carried out in our earlier paper [Current Sci. India 15 (1982) 695]. The polarisability equations proposed in our earlier paper have been modified by introducing a correction term.
