The diet of toothfish species Dissostichus eleginoides and Dissostichus mawsoni with overlapping distributions

Journal of Fish Biology, 2011
The diets of Antarctic toothfish Dissostichus mawsoni and Patagonian toothfish Dissostichus eleginoides were examined around the South Sandwich Islands in the Southern Ocean, one of few regions with overlapping populations of the two species. Despite large differences in the proportion of stomachs containing prey (76ยท2% of D.

An Assessment of Diet-Overlap Indexes

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1981
Abstract Dietary components of Mississippi silversides (Menidia audens) and juvenile largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) were tabulated by the percentage of occurrence, the percentage of total number, the percentage of total volume, the average of the volume percentages, and the relative importance index.

Estimating the reliability of diet overlap measures

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1985
Diet overlap measures, commonly used in studies of resource partitioning and competition in fish, are too often treated as fixed values; in fact, they are random variables. Two methods for estimating the variance of some overlap measures using stomach content data are examined here: the jackknife and the bootstrap.

Effects of flood suppression on natricine snake diet and prey overlap

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 2007
Organisms may become adapted to disturbances when these disturbances occur periodically and at intermediate intensity. To investigate the effects of flood suppression, this study compared diet and competition of semi-aquatic snakes during flood (2000โ€“2001) and no flood (2003โ€“2005) years. Three natricine species, Nerodia erythrogaster (Forster in Bossu,

Ontogenetic diet shifts and diet overlap among three closely related neotropical armoured catfishes

Journal of Fish Biology, 1995
Analysis of stomach contents of larvae, juveniles and adults of three closely related armoured catfishes in coastal plain swamps of Suriname, South America, revealed major ontogenetic diet shifts. Larvae of Hoplosternum littorale, H. thoracatum and Callichthys callichthys showed a restricted diet of rotifers and microcrustacea.

Diet and dietary overlap in fishes of temporary waters of southwestern Australia

Ecology of Freshwater Fish, 1996
AbstractThe diets of six species of fish occurring in seasonally inundated waters of the southern acid peat flats of southwestern Australia were studied over a 23 month period. Fishes could be allocated to a benthos/lower water column guild or a midwater column/water surface guild.

Deer and Cattle Diet Overlap on Louisiana Pine-Bluestem Range

The Journal of Wildlife Management, 1986
Seasonal diets of 5 cattle and 3-5 tame white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) on 3 subunits of a rotationally burned, continuously grazed longleaf pine (Pinus palustris)-bluestem (Andropogon spp.) range in Louisiana are compared with diets of these same deer on 3 similarly managed ungrazed subunits.

Impact of high sucrose diets on the discrimination of spatial and object memories with overlapping features

Physiology & Behavior, 2018
High sucrose diets (HSDs) have been shown to have detrimental effects on hippocampal dependent memory in rats, including the performance of spatial tasks reliant on pattern separation, a cognitive process involved in minimising interference during memory encoding.

Influence of Abundance and Size of Age-0 Gizzard Shad on Predator Diets, Diet Overlap, and Growth

Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1997
Abstract Relationships among age-0 gizzard shad Dorosoma cepedianum and their predators were examined over 5 years (1987โ€“1991) in Pomme de Terre and Stockton lakes, Missouri. to determine the influence of gizzard shad abundance and size on diets, diet overlap, and growth of predators.
