Plasma and dietary cholesterol in infancy: Effects of early low or moderate dietary cholesterol intake on subsequent response to increased dietary cholesterol

Metabolism, 1972
Abstract Variations in dietary cholesterol and polyunsaturated or saturated fatty acids were studied in the first yr of life in 21 normal and 18 hypercholesterolemic neonates to determine if the amount of dietary cholesterol in early infancy affects subsequent adaptation to increased dietary cholesterol in later infancy and childhood.

Effect of Dietary Cholesterol on Rat Glomerular Cholesterol Esterase

American Journal of Nephrology, 1993
The accumulation of tissue cholesterol and cholesteryl esters is commonly seen during the development of both atherosclerosis and glomerulosclerosis. The intracellular cholesterol content is regulated, in part, by the hydrolysis of cholesteryl esters to cholesterol, a reaction catalyzed by cholesterol esterase.

Serum-cholesterol response to dietary cholesterol: a re-evaluation

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1986
The data from the literature in which the serum-cholesterol response has been measured following a change in cholesterol intake have been re-evaluated. The overall data appear to be best explained by exponential equations. However, very large differences in response have been reported for similar changes in cholesterol intake and no predictive equation
