Dietary modification of chyle composition in chylothorax
Gastroenterology, 1989Nutrition support has played a major role in the treatment of chylothorax, both to prevent malnutrition and to minimize chyle production and flow. This report evaluates chyle composition in a patient with chylothorax who was placed on a low-fat diet, medium-chain triglyceride diet, and total parenteral nutrition in sequence.

Dietary Composition and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2004Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common and potentially serious form of chronic liver disease that occurs in patients who do not abuse alcohol. Present dietary recommendations for all Americans, including those with NAFLD, endorse a low-calorie, low-fat diet.

Dietary Effects on Lipoprotein Composition
1978Qualitative and quantitative dietary changes can markedly affect plasma lipid levels. Variations of lipi-demia have an obvious counterpart in changes of lipoprotein levels and composition. In spite of the large number of studies evaluating dietary effects on plasma lipid levels, clinical studies on the relative composition and structure of lipoproteins

Effect of Dietary Lipids on Saliva Composition
The Journal of Nutrition, 1982The effects of feeding two different dietary fats on saliva composition were studied in monkeys. Two groups of adult monkeys (M. fascicularis) were fed diets containing 10% corn oil (CO) or 10% hydrogenated coconut oil (HCO). Pilocarpine-stimulated parotid and submandibular saliva samples were obtained at 0, 17, 26 and 29 weeks. These, along with blood

Skeletal muscle composition in dietary obesity-susceptible and dietary obesity-resistant rats
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1992The intent of this study was to determine whether a relationship exists between susceptibility to high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and skeletal muscle fiber type. Forty-four adult male Wistar rats were given ad libitum access to a HFD (60% of calories from fat) for 4 wk.

Sterol Composition of Freshwater Algivorous Ciliates Does Not Resemble Dietary Composition
Microbial Ecology, 2006Algivorous ciliates represent an important link in freshwater food webs, as they transfer energy and biochemical matter from their algal prey to mesozooplankton predators. However, it is still unknown how dietary composition influences the biochemical composition of ciliates.

Composition of Corn Hull Dietary Fiber
Starch - Stärke, 1994AbstractThe corn hull dietary fiber was decomposed into their components such as cellulose, hemicellulose‐A, ‐B, ‐C, ‐other and lignin by the Siegel method, and their contents were 16%, 1%, 57%, 14% and 2%, respectivity. The components of ordinary corn fiber were insoluble in water, but several decomposed fractions were able to dissolved.

Body composition and dietary intake in neoplastic disease
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1981Changes in body composition in 37 cancer patients were studied over a period of 6 months. Initially, the patients were divided into two groups: those who lost body weight (over 10%) and those who maintained or gained body weight before the study. Analysis of body composition indicated that patients who lost body weight has caloric and protein intakes ...

Dietary Composition and Renal Function in Healthy Subjects
Nephron, 1987Increments in dietary protein intake can increase glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in humans, and the glomerular hyperfiltration induced by high protein intake has been incriminated in the progression of glomerulosclerosis related to age and a number of renal diseases.

Dietary fat composition alters pulmonary function in pigs
Nutrition, 2002We investigated the effect of various dietary fats on pulmonary surfactant composition and lung function changes that occur before and after endotoxin infusion in pigs.Eighteen pigs were assigned to three groups (n = 6 per group) to receive a diet of protein (20% of calories), carbohydrate (20% of calories), and fat (40% of calories).
