Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Partitions of difference sets and code synchronization [PDF]
Difference systems of sets (DSS) are combinatorial structures that are a generalization of cyclic difference sets and arise in connection with code synchronization.

Large convex sets in difference sets
AbstractWe give a construction of a convex set with cardinality such that contains a convex subset with cardinality . We also consider the following variant of this problem: given a convex set , what is the size of the largest matching such that the set is convex?

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Attracting and quasi-invariant sets for a class of impulsive stochastic difference equations
The aim of this article is to study the attracting and quasi-invariant sets for a class of impulsive stochastic difference equations. By establishing a difference inequality, we obtain the attracting and quasi-invariant sets of systems under ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A New Type of Soft Group: Soft Symmetric Difference Group with Group Theory Applications
In this paper, a new type of soft group called the soft symmetric difference group (SSD-group) is introduced and systematically developed. This structure is constructed by integrating soft set theory with group theory through the symmetric difference ...
