Surface Air‐Pressure Measurements From Space Using Differential Absorption Radar on the Right Wing of the 60 GHz Oxygen Band

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Surface air pressure is one of the most important parameters used in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. Although it has been measured using weather stations on the ground for many decades, the numbers of measurements are sparse and concentrated ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Carreau fluid flow in a thermally stratified medium with heat generation/absorption effects

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2018
In this article theoretical attempt is carried to inspect the flow field characteristics of Carreau fluid model. The fluid flow is achieved by stretching cylindrical surface with no slip condition that is the relative velocity of Carreau fluid particles ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Field-deployable diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) for profiling water vapor [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2015
A field-deployable water vapor profiling instrument that builds on the foundation of the preceding generations of diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) laboratory prototypes was constructed and tested. Significant advances are discussed,

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) Measurements of Landfill Methane Emissions

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2017
Methane is one of the most important gaseous hydrocarbon species for both industrial and environmental reasons. Understanding and quantifying methane emissions to atmosphere is therefore an important element of climate change research.

A TDLAS Sensor for Simultaneous Measurement of Temperature and C2H4 Concentration Using a Differential Absorption Scheme at High Temperature

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
Ethylene (C2H4) concentration and temperature is simultaneously measured in high temperature environments using a differential absorption scheme combined with a distributed feedback (DFB) diode laser near 1. 620 μm.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Advances in Diode-Laser-Based Water Vapor Differential Absorption Lidar

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
An advanced diode-laser-based water vapor differential absorption lidar (WV-DIAL) has been developed. The next generation design was built on the success of previous diode-laser-based prototypes and enables accurate measurement of water vapor closer to ...
