Approach to electrochemical modulating differential extended X-ray absorption fine structure

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, 2022
The differential XAFS technique holds promise for detecting surface changes, which benefits many chemical applications. Phase-sensitive detection (PSD) analysis based on modulated excitation spectroscopy experiments is expected to obtain a high-quality ...

Real-Time Tracking of Photovoltaics by Differential Absorption Imaging in Optical Wireless Power Transmission

open access: yesPhotonics
In the future, wireless power transmission is expected to cover power levels ranging from milliwatts to megawatts and over distances of a few meters to kilometers for both stationary and moving photovoltaic (PV) targets.

Field-deployable diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) for profiling water vapor [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2015
A field-deployable water vapor profiling instrument that builds on the foundation of the preceding generations of diode-laser-based differential absorption lidar (DIAL) laboratory prototypes was constructed and tested. Significant advances are discussed,

A two-dimensional mathematical model of percutaneous drug absorption

open access: yes, 2004
Background When a drug is applied on the skin surface, the concentration of the drug accumulated in the skin and the amount of the drug eliminated into the blood vessel depend on the value of a parameter, r.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Surface Air‐Pressure Measurements From Space Using Differential Absorption Radar on the Right Wing of the 60 GHz Oxygen Band

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Surface air pressure is one of the most important parameters used in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. Although it has been measured using weather stations on the ground for many decades, the numbers of measurements are sparse and concentrated ...

Carreau fluid flow in a thermally stratified medium with heat generation/absorption effects

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2018
In this article theoretical attempt is carried to inspect the flow field characteristics of Carreau fluid model. The fluid flow is achieved by stretching cylindrical surface with no slip condition that is the relative velocity of Carreau fluid particles ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Energy calibration of integrated path differential absorption lidars [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 2018
The stringent requirements for energy reference measurement represent a challenging task for integrated path differential absorption lidars to measure greenhouse gas columns from satellite or aircraft. The coherence of the lidar transmitter gives rise to speckle effects that have to be considered for accurate monitoring of the energy ratio of outgoing ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
