Modeling Sudden Ice Shedding from Conductor Bundles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Sudden ice shedding from conductor bundles was modeled numerically and experimentally by improving the approaches proposed formerly for a single cable. The experimental study was carried out on a small-scale laboratory model of one span of a twin bundle.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Structural and Functional Differentiation of Bundle Sheath and Mesophyll Cells in the Lamina Joint of Rice Compared with that in the Corresponding Region of the Liguleless Genotype

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2007
The structural and functional characterization of the blade-sheath boundary region of a rice cultivar T65 and its near-isogenic line T65lg were examined by light and electron microscopy and in situ hybridization. Starch accumulation in bundle sheath cells was compared between the lamina joint of T65 and the corresponding region of T65lg and also ...

Detecting Differential Item Functioning and Differential Test Functioning on Math School Final-exam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study aims at finding out the characteristics of Differential Item Functioning (DIF) and Differential Test Functioning (DTF) on school final-exam for Math subject based on Item Response Theory (ITR). The subjects of this study were questions and all

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Investigating the Effects of Differential Item Functioning on Proficiency Classification

open access: yes, 2017
This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of differential item functioning (DIF) on proficiency classification. Using Monte Carlo simulation, item- and test-level DIF magnitudes were varied systematically to investigate their impact ...

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.
