Distributed and centralized control during differentiation
A persistent view of cell fate choices during development entails centralized control by so-called master regulators. A recent single-cell study of the large-scale fate specification during mammalian gastrulation (Mittnenzweig et al., 2021) implies the prevalence of more distributed forms of control.

Optimal linear stability condition for scalar differential equations with distributed delay [PDF]
Linear scalar differential equations with distributed delays appear in the study of the local stability of nonlinear differential equations with feedback, which are common in biology and physics.

Optimal Schemes for Discrete Distribution Estimation Under Locally Differential Privacy [PDF]
We consider the minimax estimation problem of a discrete distribution with support size $k$ under privacy constraints. A privatization scheme is applied to each raw sample independently, and we need to estimate the distribution of the raw samples from ...

Identification of the differential distribution patterns of mRNAs and consensus binding sequences for mouse DAF-16 homologues [PDF]
daf-16 is a forkhead-type transcription factor, functioning downstream of insulin-like signals, and is known to be critical to the regulation of life span in Caenorhabditis elegans.

The basic aim of analyzing gene expression data is to identify genes whose expression patterns differ in the treatment samples, with respect to the control or healthy samples. Microarray technology is a tool for analyzing simultaneous relative expression

Top quark inclusive differential distributions [PDF]
The inclusive transverse momentum and rapidity distributions for top quark production at the Fermilab Tevatron are presented both in order $ _s^3$ in QCD and using the resummation of the leading soft gluon corrections in all orders of QCD perturbation theory. The resummed results are uniformly larger than the $O( _s^3)$ results for both distributions.

Hölder-differentiability of Gibbs distribution functions [PDF]
AbstractIn this paper we give non-trivial applications of the thermodynamic formalism to the theory of distribution functions of Gibbs measures (devil's staircases) supported on limit sets of finitely generated conformal iterated function systems in ℝ. For a large class of these Gibbs states we determine the Hausdorff dimension of the set of points at ...
