Two-phase heat conduction problems with Sturm-type boundary conditions

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems
In this work, the solution is justified using the method of separation of variables for initial-boundary value problems of the heat conduction equation with piecewise constant thermal conductivity coefficient under Sturm-type boundary conditions ...

Complete Asymptotics for Solution of Singularly Perturbed Dynamical Systems with Single Well Potential

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
We consider a singularly perturbed boundary value problem ( − ε 2 ∆ + ∇ V · ∇ ) u ε = 0 in Ω , u ε = f on ∂ Ω , f ∈ C ∞ ( ∂ Ω ) .

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Differential/Algebraic Equations As Stiff Ordinary Differential Equations

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1992
To a system of differential algebraic equations: \[ \text{(DAE)}\quad y'(t)=f(t,y(t),z(t),0),\quad g(t,y(t),z(t),0)=0, \] a system of singularly perturbed ordinary differential equations: \[ \text{(ODE)}\quad y_ \varepsilon'(t)=f(t,y_ \varepsilon(t),z_ \varepsilon(t),\varepsilon), \varepsilon z_ \varepsilon'(t)=g(t,y_ \varepsilon(t),z_ \varepsilon(t ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

On the asymptotic expansion of certain plane singular integral operators

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
We discuss the problem of the asymptotic expansion for some operators in a general theory of pseudo-differential equations on manifolds with borders. Using the distribution theory one obtains certain explicit representations for these operators.

Difference–Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1948
THE general linear homogeneous difference–differential equation with constant coefficients is where 0 ⩽ μ ⩽m, 0⩽ν ⩽ n, y(ν)(t) is the ν-th derivative of the unknown function y (t) and 0 = b0 bm, if amn≠ 0. (2) Was first given by Hilb8, but under conditions which would exclude most of the applications.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.
