On the covering dimension of the set of solutions of some nonlinear equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
We prove an abstract theorem whose sole hypothesis is that the degree of a certain map is nonzero and whose parametric equations are studied using cohomological mconclusions imply sharp, multidimensional continuation results.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Electron transfer between complexes III and IV in S. cerevisiae mitochondrial membranes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in S. cerevisiae mitoplasts is limited by complex IV catalytic capacity, rather than two‐dimensional cytochrome c diffusion. At physiological cytochrome c : supercomplex ratios at salinity equivalent to that of 20 mm monovalent salt, activity is maximized, indicating that this low ionic strength accurately mimics

The existence and uniqueness of the solution for nonlinear Fredholm and Volterra integral equations together with nonlinear fractional differential equations via w-distances

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2017
In this work, we establish new fixed point theorems for w-generalized weak contraction mappings with respect to w-distances in complete metric spaces by using the concept of an altering distance function. As an application, we use the obtained results to

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Existence of solutions to a second order partial differential equation with nonlocal conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2003
Using the cosine function theory, we prove the existence of mild and classical solutions for an abstract second-order Cauchy problem with nonlocal conditions.

A priori bounds of the solution of a one point IBVP for a singular fractional evolution equation

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
A priori bounds constitute a crucial and powerful tool in the investigation of initial boundary value problems for linear and nonlinear fractional and integer order differential equations in bounded domains.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Strong solutions for differential equations in abstract spaces

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2005
The author considers in a sequentially complete locally convex space \((E,{\mathcal F})\) the initial value problem \[ u_t(t)= f(t, u(t)),\quad u(t_0)= u_0. \] The bounded elements of \(E\) are denoted by \[ E_b:= \Biggl\{x\in E:\| x\|_{{\mathcal F}}= \sup_{\rho\in{\mathcal F}}\,\rho(x)< \infty\Biggr\}.
