Low-Differential-Mode-Group-Delay 9-LP-Mode Fiber

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2015
We report the optimization of a few-mode fiber, adapted to multiple-input multiple-output mode division multiplexing, that supports 9 LP modes (15 spatial modes). The fiber is fabricated using standard multimode processes, which allows for tight process tolerances, yielding low differential mode group delays (2) and low bend losses.

About the Differential Group Delay of Spooled Spun Fibers

National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2012
We numerically and experimentally analyze spooled spun fibers showing that spin and bending birefringence interact, originating peculiar PMD behavior. Actually, DGD of spooled spun fibers may be larger than that of the equivalent unspun fibers.

Variability of GPS satellite differential group delay biases

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1991
An important issue in determining the accuracy of global positioning system (GPS) satellite ionospheric measurements is the instrumental delay biases between the L-band frequencies in both the satellites and the receivers. These differential L1-L2 biases must be measured and removed from the GPS measurements before an accurate estimate of the total ...

The long-term distribution of differential group delay in a recirculating loop

Technical Digest: Symposium on Optical Fiber Measurements, 2004., 2004
It is well known that the distribution of differential group delay (DGD) in a straight-line optical fiber transmission system is a Maxwellian when the fiber realization drifts ergodically and the fiber is statistically homogeneous [I].

Optical solitons with differential group delay by trial equation method

Optik, 2018
Abstract This paper secures bright, dark and singualr soliton solutions in birefringent fibers. Both Kerr law and parabolic law nonlinearity are studied. The trial equation method successfully retrieves these solitons with constraint relations that assure their existence.

Measurement of low differential group delay and fiber birefringence

Optical Engineering, 2003
We describe the measurement of low differential group delay and fiber birefringence using a commercial polarization analyzer based on a free-space rotating quarter waveplate polarimeter. Stress-induced birefringence is isolated from the 60-cm fiber under test by placing it in a suitably designed fiber chuck.

Closely Packed Multicore Fibers with Zero Differential Group Delay

2013 18th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference held jointly with 2013 International Conference on Photonics in Switching, 2013
There exists a simple approximate condition for general homogeneous multicore fibers to achieve zero differential group delay (DGD). The zero-DGD wavelength can be controlled effectively by introducing a refractive-index dip in the cores.

Atmospheric oxygen concentration determination by the differential group delay method

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 1996
Abstract The atmospheric component concentration is usually determinated by the differential absorption (DA) method using spectral absorption lines of the components. It is known that the relationship between absorption and the phase refractive index (PRI) of medium is given by the Kramers-Kronig ratio. The maximal difference of PRI near the spectral

Limit on Differential Group Delay Achievable by Space-Time Wave Packets

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020
We investigate the effects of the spectral uncertainty on the maximum differential group delay (DGD) for a finite-energy space-time wave-packet, showing the maximum DGD that can be obtained with respect to a reference pulse at c.
