A Shape Optimization Approach for Inferring Sources of Volcano Ground Deformation
Abstract One of the main goals of volcano geodesy is to improve the understanding of how an increase in pressure related to magma accumulation causes ground deformation in order to evaluate volcanic unrest. The inversion methods used for this purpose rely on a parametrization of the shape of the crustal volume in which pressure changes due to magma ...

Abstract We present novel observations of C‐band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) coherence sensitivities and patterns for snow on first‐year sea ice (FYI) consistent with snow thermodynamics and wind redistribution. Wintertime SAR coherence and backscatter change observations of landfast FYI in Dease Strait, Nunavut, Canada are made using 12‐day repeat ...

Process‐Informed Analysis of As‐Built Metal Additive Surface Features
This article introduces a novel method for feature‐based surface texture characterisation directly incorporating manufacturing variables into the feature extraction workflow. This marks a major step towards identifying process‐specific surface properties and their influence on part function and hence a holistic understanding of process–structure ...

Characterisation of Complex Multilayer Nanostructures with High Aspect Ratio
Deposition studies of deep vertical dips on semiconductor wafers can create problems at an industrial manufacturing scale, since cross‐sectioning requires a lot of time for analysis. The PillarHall test chip is a solution to this problem, because it transforms deep vertical dips with high aspect ratio to similar structures in horizontal direction.

Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...
