A differential space-time coded RFID system

2014 6th International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems and Workshops (ICUMT), 2014
We propose a differential space-time coded (STC) radio-frequency-identification (RFID) system where the tag has two antennas and the reader has a single or multiple antennas. In this system, the M-ary phase-shift keying constellation is used, and encoding at the tag and decoding at the reader are simple.

Design of Differential Space-Time Trellis Codes

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2007
This paper presents the performance analysis and code design for differential space-time trellis code (DSTTC) when no channel state information (CSI) is available at neither the transmitter nor receiver. Upper bounds on the pairwise error probability of DSTTC over fast fading and quasi-static fading channels are derived and new design criteria are ...

A new differential monomial space-time code

IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2005, 2005
A new class of differential unitary space-time codes, namely, differential monomial space-time codes, is proposed. In contrast to many other differential unitary space-time codes, this new class of differential monomial space-time codes does not require the transmitted matrices to form a group.

Distributed Convolutional-Coded Differential Space-Time Block Coding

2010 IEEE 71st Vehicular Technology Conference, 2010
A low complexity distributed coding scheme is proposed for communications over Rayleigh fading channels. Convolutional Coding (CC) assisted Differential Phase-Shift Keying (DPSK) modulation is employed at the source node for conveying the source signals to two relay nodes as well as to the destination node during the first transmission period ...

Differential distributed space-time coding based on Cayley codes

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2008
We propose a coding strategy for wireless relay networks with no channel information based on Cayley differential unitary codes. While satisfying the requirements for differential distributed space-time coding, our scheme furthermore inherits of the advantages of Cayley codes, namely high rate, efficient encoding, and a linearized sphere decoder.

Differential Detection Based on Space-Time Block Codes

Wireless Personal Communications, 2002
In this paper we consider the use of differential detection when there are multiple transmitter and receiver antennas. Our differential scheme is based on the theory of Space-Time Block Codes that are used to achieve space-time diversity. Compared to the existing differential schemes for multiple antennas our scheme has a much smaller computational ...

Differential space-time coding for frequency-selective channels

IEEE Communications Letters, 2002
We introduce two space-time transmission schemes which allow full-rate and full-diversity noncoherent communications using two transmit antennas over fading frequency-selective channels. The first scheme operates in the frequency domain where it combines differential Alamouti (seeIEEE J. Select. Areas Commun., vol.16, p.1451-58, Nov.

A new differential space-time block coding scheme

The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. ICCS 2002., 2003
Most existing space-time coding schemes rely heavily on accurate channel estimation at the receiver., which is a difficult task in rapidly fading environment. The previous Tarokh and Jafarkhani (see IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Comm., vol.18, no.7, p.1169-1174, 2000) differential space-time block code (DSTBC) suffers from the signal constellation ...

Differential Space–Time Coded Switch and Stay Combining

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2010
The design and analysis of differential space-time coding is considered where the receiver, with a single radio frequency (RF) chain, uses switch and stay combining (SSC). Without channel knowledge at the receiver, a receive-power-based switching algorithm is proposed.
