Bit-interleaved coded differential space-time modulation

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2002
Bit-interleaved coded differential space-time modulation for transmission over spatially correlated Ricean flat fading channels is discussed. For improved noncoherent detection without channel state information at the receiver, iterative decoding employing hard-decision feedback and prediction-based metric computation is applied.

Differential space-time modulation - coding and capacity results

IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2003. ICC '03., 2004
In this paper, powerful coding techniques for differential space-time modulation (DSTM) over Rayleigh flat fading channels and noncoherent demodulation without channel state information at the receiver are investigated. In particular, multilevel coding (MLC), bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM), and so-called hybrid coded modulation (HCM) are ...

Space-Time Block Coded Differential Spatial Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2017
In this paper, a novel multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission scheme termed space-time block coded differential spatial modulation (STBC-DSM) is proposed. It employs the hybrid concept of differential spatial modulation (DSM) and space-time block coding (STBC) to exploit the diversity benefits of STBC without the channel state information ...

Semi-Coherent Detection for Differential Space-Time Codes

2006 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2006
Differential space-time coded (DSTC) modulation is a viable scheme for MIMO communication systems that do not utilize channel information at the receiver either because of rapid channel variation and/or limited training data. The drawback of DSTC is the 3 dB performance loss because of incoherent detection.

Improved Detection of Differential Space-Time Block Codes

2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007
In this paper, the authors derive an improved sub-optimal differential detector for space-time block codes based on the maximum-likelihood detection when neither the transmitter nor the receiver has the knowledge of the channel. The proposed detection method is general enough to be applied to orthogonal space-time block codes, quasi-orthogonal space ...

Differential Group Space-Time Block Coded CPM

2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007
Motivated by the desirable attributes of unitary space-time (ST) codes and constant envelope modulations, we introduce an ST continuous phase modulation (CPM) methodology and its companion noncoherent receiver. We consider M-ary full-response CPMs, with a modulation index of 1/M and multiple transmit antennas. Through careful selection of an underlying

Recursive Space–Time Trellis Codes Using Differential Encoding

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2005
Differential space-time modulation (DSTM) has been recently proposed by Hughes, and Hochwald and Sweldens when the channel information is not known at the receiver. On the other hand, the DSTM also needs a recursive memory of a matrix block at the encoder and therefore provides a trellis structure when the channel information is known at the receiver ...

Super-orthogonal differential space-time trellis coding and decoding

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2005
In this paper, a differential space-time trellis-coded scheme based on super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes (SOSTTCs) is proposed. It achieves full diversity and provides an improved coding gain. Based on the per-survivor processing (PSP) technique, a low-complexity suboptimal differential decoder is developed.

Rate-embedded differential space-time codes

VTC-2005-Fall. 2005 IEEE 62nd Vehicular Technology Conference, 2005., 2006
Differential space-time codes (DSTC) can be used to implement high reliable transmission in cases where the channel fading coefficients change too rapidly to be estimated and the channel state information (CSI) is unknown at receiver. But in most of the existing differential space-time schemes, a great many of redundant symbols have always been ...

Differential distributed space-time block coding

PACRIM. 2005 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and signal Processing, 2005., 2005
In this paper, differential distributed space-time block codes (DSIBCs) are introduced. These differential DSTBCs are designed for wireless networks which have a large set of nodes N but at any given time only a small, a priori unknown subset of nodes S /spl sub/ N can be active. Channel state information is not required at the cooperating nodes nor at
