Effect of Acetazolamide on the Differential Threshold

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983
Following the oral administration of three 250-mg doses of acetazolamide sodium to nine patients with glaucomatous visual-field defects, a statistically significant improvement in the differential threshold was observed, whereas in 16 glaucoma suspects, no change could be detected.

Learning Saliency by MRF and Differential Threshold

IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, 2013
Saliency detection has been an attractive topic in recent years. The reliable detection of saliency can help a lot of useful processing without prior knowledge about the scene, such as content-aware image compression, segmentation, etc. Although many efforts have been spent in this subject, the feature expression and model construction are far from ...

Differential Thresholds for Frequency

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1963
Differential thresholds for frequency at 40 dB SL and at octave intervals from 125 cps to 8 kc/sec, were measured using the method of constant stimulus differences with two procedures. In one case, following the usual practice, both the standard and variable stimuli were presented sequentially in time to the same ear.

Differential Threshold for Viscosity

Nature, 1939
IN the course of some experiments on the capacity of the human senses to distinguish certain physical properties of colloidal materials, we have had occasion to determine the differential threshold for viscosity, using truly fluid bitumens* having viscosities of the order of 106 poises at 18°C.

Adaptive thresholding of differential interferograms

Optoelectronics, Instrumentation and Data Processing, 2014
A method is proposed for selecting an adaptive threshold for the detection of an interference signal in an optical profilometer based on estimation of optical quantum noise in interferograms of each measurement point. It is shown that when using differential interferograms, this approach allows extending the dynamic range of detection of interference ...

Cherenkov threshold-differential spectrometer

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1975
Abstract A new type of threshold-differential Cherenkov spectrometer has been developed to measure the flux and momentum distribution of high intensity charged particle beams in an intense charged particle background. The spectrometer is intended primarily for use in monitoring and measuring the properties of wide-band neutrino beams by measuring the

Threshold Differentiation of Drive and Reward in the Olds Effect

Nature, 1962
ACCORDING to Deutsch's theory1, the Olds effect2 of electrical self-stimulation is produced as a result of the concomitant simulation of both drive and reward pathways. If two such systems, one mediating drive and one reward, are indeed involved, the threshold stimulus intensities required to activate each might differ.

Improved formula for evaluating color-differential thresholds

Applied Optics, 1992
A new group of color-difference formulas is proposed that gives better results than the previous formulas supplied by Romero et al. [Appl. Opt. 28, 4697-4702 (1989)]. The new formulas are deduced from chromatic discrimination data and behave more consistently at the boundaries between regions of similar hue in the CIE-1931 diagram.

Differential equation models for sharp threshold dynamics

Mathematical Biosciences, 2014
We develop an extension to differential equation models of dynamical systems to allow us to analyze probabilistic threshold dynamics that fundamentally and globally change system behavior. We apply our novel modeling approach to two cases of interest: a model of infectious disease modified for malware where a detection event drastically changes ...

Efficient Determination of Distance Thresholds for Differential Dependencies

IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 2014
The importance of introducing distance constraints to data dependencies, such as differential dependencies (DDs), has recently been recognized. The differential dependencies are tolerant to small variations, which enable them to apply to wide data quality checking applications, such as detecting data violations.
