Hyperfunctioning differentiated thyroid carcinoma
Journal of Endocrinological Investigation, 1998A case of functioning plurifocal papillary carcinoma causing a clinical condition of hyperthyroidism is presented. Histologically, the carcinoma presented a dominant macrofocal nodule of an approximately 5 cm diameter, surrounded by chronic thyroiditis.

Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology, 2001The overall prognosis of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer is excellent, but the prognosis is rapidly worsening, when the disease is diagnosed in elderly patients. Old patients more often present with poor prognostic features, such as large tumors, follicular or Hürthle cell subtypes, extrathyroidal growth and distant metastases.
