Mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities of the ribotoxic stress response in cancer
Cancer cells' high translational demand creates opportunities to therapeutically target ribosome function. Ribosome stalling and collisions activate ZAKα and the ribotoxic stress response (RSR), which can trigger rapid, p53‐independent apoptosis in cancer.

Loss of primary cilia promotes mitochondria-dependent apoptosis in thyroid cancer
The primary cilium is well-preserved in human differentiated thyroid cancers such as papillary and follicular carcinoma. Specific thyroid cancers such as Hürthle cell carcinoma, oncocytic variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and PTC with ...

[Poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma : An underdiagnosed entity. German version]. [PDF]
Poorly differentiated thyroid carcinomas (PDTCs) are a rare subtype of thyroid carcinomas that are biologically situated between well-differentiated papillary/follicular thyroid carcinomas and anaplastic thyroid carcinomas (ATCs).The diagnosis of ...

Concepts of Pathological Staging and Prognosis in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma
American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC)/Union for International Cancer Control (AJCC/UICC) staging and American Thyroid Association (ATA) risk predication system are the best predicators of mortality and cancer recurrence, respectively, in patients ...

The kinase SRPK1 directly interacts with the protein TOPBP1 and regulates the pre‐mRNA splicing of WIZ thereby contributing to the activation of the ATR/CHK1 replicative checkpoint in response to replicative stress. This allows cancer cells' genomic stability and survival.

Patient and Surgeon Candidacy for Transoral Endoscopic Thyroid Surgery
The transoral thyroidectomy (TT) is a feasible novel surgical procedure that does not need visible incisions, a truly cutaneous scar-free surgery. Inclusion criteria are (a) patients who have a ultrasonographically (US) estimated thyroid diameter not ...

Glioblastoma cells express calcitonin receptor variants (CT receptor isoforms) that may help them survive stress. Using qPCR, transcript‐specific long‐read nanopore sequencing, immunofluorescence co‐localisation and comparative sequence analysis, this study identifies a novel alternatively spliced CALCR transcript that encodes the CTb receptor isoform ...
