Difficult laryngoscopy made easy with a “BURP” [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Anaesthesia, 1993
Displacement of the larynx by backward, upward and rightward pressure on the thyroid cartilage or "BURP" may improve visualization of the glottis in some cases of difficult direct laryngoscopy. In a patient with the Treacher-Collins syndrome in whom conventional laryngoscopy had proved impossible and tracheal intubation extremely difficult, this ...

Experience with the McCoy laryngoscope in difficult laryngoscopy [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 1997
We report our experience with the McCoy levering laryngoscope in 48 patients who were a Cormack and Lehane grade 3 or grade 4 view at direct laryngoscopy. The view with the blade in neutral position was grade 3 in 39 patients and grade 4 in nine patients.

Laryngospasm Complicating Awake Nasal Intubation in Ludwig's Angina

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Axial and sagittal contrast‐enhaced computed tomography images demonstrating Ludwig's angina with mild supraglottic edema. Even minimal laryngeal inflammation can precipitate laryngospasm during awake airway management. ABSTRACT A 64‐year‐old man with Ludwig's angina developed laryngospasm during awake fiberoptic intubation despite mild supraglottic ...

A Case of Life‐Threatening Stridor: Vallecular Cyst in a 2‐Month‐Old Infant

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.

Comparison of the Performance of Acromioaxillosuprasternal Notch Index with Old Method of Anatomical Measurement of Head and Neck in Predicting Laryngoscopy Forecasting Problems in Pediatrics Surgical Procedures Requiring Tracheal Intubation under General

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2019
Background: Nowadays, various methods are used to determine the difficulty of laryngoscopy. In this study, we aimed to compare the performance of the acromioaxillosuprasternal notch index (AASI) with the old anatomical criteria of the head and neck in ...

Acid Suppression in Mild‐Moderate Laryngomalacia Without GERD: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 1, Page 471-478, January 2026.
Infants ≤ 6 months old with mild to moderate laryngomalacia at a tertiary children's hospital were randomized to famotidine and feeding modifications (AST) or feeding modifications alone (no‐AST). Patients randomized to AST (n = 20) and no‐AST (n = 20) had comparable improvement on Laryngomalacia Airway Symptom Score and Infant Gastroesophageal Reflux ...
