The direct problem of acoustic diffraction of an audible probe radiation by an air-saturated porous cylinder

Journal of Applied Physics, 2010
Gas-saturated, solid skeleton, porous media like geomaterials, polymeric and metallic foams or biomaterials are fundamental in a diverse range of applications, from structural materials to energy technologies. Most polymeric foams are used for noise control applications and knowledge of the manner in which the energy of sound waves is dissipated with ...

A time-domain higher-order boundary element method for 3D forward-speed radiation and diffraction problems

Journal of Marine Science and Technology, 2013
A time-domain higher-order boundary element method for seakeeping analyses in the framework of linear potential theory is newly developed. Ship waves generated by two modified Wigley models advancing at a constant forward speed in calm water or incident waves and the resultant radiation and diffraction forces are computed to validate this code.

Analysis of space and surface waves excitation in layered magnetodielectric and metamaterial structures in the context of radiation and diffraction problems

2nd European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2007), 2007
The Green's functions of grounded magnetodielectric slabs with LE, LM waves' expansion and layered circular cylinder with E, H waves' expansion are used for surface and space waves analysis. Traditional magnetodielectrics and double negative materials are under consideration.

Principles of radiation, limit absorption and limit amplitude in problems of the diffraction of waves by one-dimensional periodic gratings

USSR Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1987
Abstract The possibilities of three fundamental methods of obtaining “physical” solutions of stationary boundary value problems which simulate the diffraction of waves by one-dimensional periodic gratings are investigated.

Characteristic wave numbers for simple source formulations of acoustic radiation and diffraction problems

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
It is shown that the characteristic wave numbers for which the simple source formulation of acoustic diffraction problems fails can be obtained directly by use of the model’s integral equation. Characteristic wave numbers for diffraction by a rigid cylinder and by a rigid sphere are determined.
