Nanoarcsecond single-dish imaging of the Vela pulsar

open access: yes, 2000
We have measured the properties of the diffractive scintillation toward the Vela pulsar under the extremely strong scattering conditions encountered at 660 MHz.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Search for Discrete Refractive Scattering Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We have searched for discrete refractive scattering events (including effects due to possible non-multiple diffractive scattering) at meter wavelengths in the direction of two close by pulsars B0950+08 and B1929+10, where we looked for spectral ...

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Investigation of Thermo‐Chemical Processes in Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks With and Without MgO‐C Recyclate at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

Quasi non-diffractive electron Bessel beams using direct phase masks with applications in electron microscopy

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
Electron-beam shaping opens up novel imaging possibilities in electron microscopy (EM). The implementation of a phase or amplitude mask in the condenser lens system allows the generation of electron beams with various shapes. Non-diffractive Bessel beams

Ab initio compressive phase retrieval

open access: yes, 2008
Any object on earth has two fundamental properties: it is finite, and it is made of atoms. Structural information about an object can be obtained from diffraction amplitude measurements that account for either one of these traits. Nyquist-sampling of the

Novel Tailoring of Ternary ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 Nanocomposite Heterojunction and Its Tunable Electrochemical Properties With Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
ZnS‐MXene‐TiO2 nanocomposite heterojunction for photocatalytic decomposition of this methylene blue dye (MB) greatly improves light absorption, charge separation, and active site area. Two‐dimensional MXene forms nanocomposites by easily combining them with 0D (quantum dots), 1D (tube and wire), 2D (plane and sheet), and 3D (particle and lamellar ...
