Diffraction grating lens array
SPIE Proceedings, 2007We have proposed a new type of camera module with a thin structure and distance-detection capability. This camera module has a four-lens-array with diffraction gratings (one for blue, one for red, and two for green). The diffraction gratings on the mold are formed mechanically, and the plastic lens array is fabricated by injection molding.

Diffractive-Refractive Intraocular Lens
Diffractive Optics and Micro-Optics, 2000A bifocal hybrid (diffractive-refractive) intraocular lens with an increased near vision acuity has been developed. The latter is attained by spherical cornea aberration correction with the help of a diffractive component. The lens image quality was investigated according to the ISO/DTS 11979-2 Standard.

Diffractive null lens for parabolic mirrors
SPIE Proceedings, 2010We present a novel method for diffractive null lenses design for testing parabolic mirrors. The phase coefficients control the diffracted ray, this travels through of the normal to the aspheric surface. The spherical and coma aberrations are corrected and the optimization process is not required.

A Broadband Polarization-Insensitive Diffractive Lens Design for Subwavelength Focusing of Light
International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2019In this study, we propose the metaheuristic design of a polarization-insensitive diffractive lens. The designed lens structure consists of concentric dielectric rings with optimally modulated widths and heights.

Petal-like zone plate: long depth bifocal diffractive lens and star-like beam generator.
Journal of The Optical Society of America A-optics Image Science and Vision, 2018This study introduces and examines the diffraction properties of a so-called petal-like zone plate, which comprises Fresnel zones analogous to petals.

Diffractive lens design for optimized focusing
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014We utilized nonlinear optimization to design phase-only diffractive lenses that focus light to a spot, whose width is smaller than that dictated by the far-field diffraction limit. Although scalar-diffraction theory was utilized for the design, careful comparisons against rigorous finite-difference time-domain simulations confirm the superfocusing ...

Diffractive paper lens for terahertz optics
Optics Letters, 2012Passive terahertz (THz) setups require optical elements with large diameters for optimal harvesting of weak signals. High f-number implies sophisticated aspheric designs to ensure optimal resolution and good energetic efficiency. Trial and error testing of such optics is expensive and numerical modeling is time consuming; hence, we propose extremely ...

Diffraction light analysis method for a diffraction grating imaging lens
Applied Optics, 2014We have developed a new method to analyze the amount and distribution of diffraction light for a diffraction grating lens. We have found that diffraction light includes each-order diffraction light and striped diffraction light. In this paper, we describe characteristics of striped diffraction light and suggest a way to analyze diffraction light.

This chapter describes the uses of diffractive optics in lens design. In some applications an optical component may require a diffractive surface combined with a classic lens element. In other cases the requirements can be satisfied with just a diffractive element. Both types are described and analyzed here. After describing the concepts and approaches
